Would be ideal to test the middle order. ICC is trying to get rid of 5 match bilateral series. Only few rare series might take place as 5 match series but most in future would be only 3 match ODI series unless they have been pre approved by ICC from the older Future tour program(FTP). As much as people were wanting 3 matches earlier giving reasons that its boring to have a 5 match or 7 match odi series, they fail to realize that it also means that management and captains would not have the luxury of trying different players as 3 match series is really short for teams to experiement new guys easily.

India will have to drop to our level to make that a competitive series.

But competitive at home. didn't they draw 2-2 against a quite weak Pak team? I seem to recall trundler sohail khan among the wkts. Of course, Misbah and Younis contributed to their victories as well.

Should have been same for sa tour Test series is fine and all but in context of preparation for the WC, it would be nice to play a few more ODIs than the 3 scheduled.
