Nikhil_cric
Apart from kl Rahul, who I think has a very high ceiling, im not really impressed with the young batsmen we have. Maybe shubman Gill might turn out to be something but it's too early to say. Link to comment

Pretty much , though I was a big fan of Mandeep and even now I think he has everything to be a good test bat for India , but hasnt improved much in recent years . In addition Vijay shankar Ishan Kishan Link to comment

Kaul may do well for our T20I team. I need to watch Chahar over a longer period of time to form an informed opinion. As of today, Chahar seems too dependent on conventional swing, which is available only for the first 6 overs or so. Thing is, I am a bit wary of bowlers who are just T20 specialists. They may sneak in the other formats via their T20 performances ... and they rarely do well there. Finally ... the thread is about players who do not excite us as international prospects ... and I generally do other things and don't watch cricket when Kaul or D.Chahar bowl. I understand that but that is primarily the stupidity of our selectors isn't it? I mean someone like chahar playing strictly T20's would mean that bhuvi/bumrah would be fresh for tests/ODIs and keep their speeds up instead of playing all formats of cricket + IPL round the year. Atleast that's how it should be imo. Link to comment

T20 specialists should not spill over to other formats unless they prove themselves in those respective formats while playing for India A. Kaul is more T20 ready than D.Chahar, who is just a PP bowler as of today. Link to comment

And yes agree I would only want players selected based on performances in the respective formats and i certainly won't be happy if IPL players get into the test/ODI squads without performing in India A/Ranji etc. Link to comment
