ICC bans smart watches on field

As per the ICC's Player and Match Officials Area Regulations, wearing smart watches is prohibited on the field and areas designated as player and match official area [PMOA]. An ICC release on Friday confirmed that such devices must be surrendered, along with mobile devices, upon arrival at the ground on match days.

"The ACSU officer came to speak to us and told us it's not allowed to wear them so we won't be wearing them," Hasan Ali said after the day's play.

I got to say these pakistanis are experts at bending the rules. They can communicate with the world with a smart watch.

Not that I own an apple watch or anything but i find this ban ok. You have to be in a certain range to even connect to your phone/cloud/wifi to get msgs and what not. Some does come with sim card options but i dont think apple gives you that option on their smart watches. But the ban does make sense.

They were using smart watches to keep a track record of movement throughout the game etc.

 

Although, I may have entertained the thought if the two players in question weren’t the most timid and meek characters in the side.
