Shastri's Press conference

Recommended Posts

Yeah Kitna media pressure May ke end se aa Raha hai.
They got so many gaaliyas for not including him.
Also scored in A Team matches so what do you want?
Including a match that had Woakes and that Curran.
That's a tremendous public pressure Shastri is under to play that dude.
Let's hope Pant scores some runs coz I don't think I can handle another KL rahul in the playing XI.

I’m just worried.. will there be bitching in store by the Privileged gang if they are criticised and media/public/performance pressure pushes young players in the club at the expense of some club members?

Well this is part of any professional joining a new company. I hope Pant focuses on his abilities gets success...

Who came up with 2 spinners theory? This guy needs to be banned from cricket for having such low IQ. We have done well in recent times when we backed our fast bowlers, yet this stupid goes for 2 spinners + Pandya as part of our bowling unit.

2 spinners would have won us in Edgbaston and maybe even Centurion.

It's not 2 spinners which is the issue but ONLY 2 full time pacers which includes an inconsistent bowler like Ishant.

So we were playing with 1 pacer basically (who took 3 wickets) and Pandya who chipped in with 3 wickets himself.

3 proper pacers and we may have bowled much better.

Also the last test should have shown people that just cos someone spins the ball both ways (Kuldeep) does not necessarily mean they are better than someone who has proven himself in test cricket (Jaddu). Kuldeep needs to get more games under his belt.

I think 5 specialist bowlers is the answer irrespective of the combination. If they can restrict us for 120 then so be it, we can target their batsmen with the same intensity. The problem is with Pandya's inclusion, who is neither a full time batsman or a bowler.

how is Pandya problem when he scored more runs than full time batsman and had more wickets than your full time bowlers?

Yes, 2 spinners was a problem. no way 2 spinners could have won us Edgebaston or Centurian.  No use playing two spinners for the sake when they are not good enough.

The problem is we are comparing him to a bowler like Ishant. Both are rubbish. You should be comparing him to the opposition bowlers. Stokes, Curran and Woakes all have match winning performances with the ball in these 2 test matches.

I fully agree.

If Pandya has the quality (dunno), he is not ready yet.

Just repeating a statement without giving reasons is pointless.

Centurion - Jaddu would have EASILY contributed a few wickets in both innings. Plus the pressure he would have exerted on that slow turner would have been immense.

Edgbaston - Ashwin looked potent in both innings. Jaddu would have too. Plus he would have checked the scoring rate.

I agree Ashwin and Jaddu wouldn't have done much in Lord's cos we got bundled out for 100...but if we had scored some runs, they would have come in to play in the 4th innings.

Not necessarily until and unless their places(and brand) are being threatened.
At the end of the day, they've to accept whatever their fates have written on them.
Though I have heard instances about top players destroying the careers of young talents, Pant has a good media and cricket expert backing right now so he's too powerful to avoid.

What media and social network pressure is doing is essentially Helping Kohli to take Wrong decision
Both Kohli-Shastri seems very susceptible to social media noise IMO.
One of the main reasons why the 2 spinners theory was floated and then acted upon by the duo was because social media wanted and was immediately backed upon by "credible cricket experts".
Not that Jaddu could've won this match singlehandedly, but a dude who is the no 3 test bowler and No2 all-rounder, has experience playing in Lords was dropped in favour of a newbie like KoolDip!!
Why?
Any guy with some little brain would have gone for Jaddu given his experience.
But why was Jaddu dropped?
Because social media creamed their undies for Kooldip and whined on social media why didn't he get a chance?!
I remember even before match some members wanted KoolDip because he's "young" and has some recent short format victory???
Did KoolDip Warne ultimately added any value to the team?
Now the social media crowd are saying, " Ohh noooo, KoolDip needs more practice!!"
Few days back, People were clambering to drop Dhawan..
And now the same guys are wanting Murli Vijay to be dropped and be replaced by -Dhawan.
When we have casual viewers influencing the management, this is what you get.
Now the same crowd which whined about not having a backup spinner to Ashwin in Match 1 and not playing KoolDip Warne has now been forced whine about losing the match by playing KoolDip Warne.
It is ultimately Us who wanted Pujara to be dropped in the first match -no?
Social media ka darling KL rahul has now stopped scoring runs.
What if Bumrah "doesn't run through the England Batting line up"?

Nothing wrong in trying out Pant but some of the people out there are behaving like this guy will score a 100 and take 7 catches behind the stumps to make India get an innings victory.
And these are the guys who are the pretty influential when it comes to team selections.
So can you imagine the tremendous pressure Pant has on himself?
Replacing Dhoni, winning a match in Trent Bridge?
Uparse the captain is Kohli whose main aim is to pander to the media.
Most people expected Curran and Ollie Pope to flop while Pant has been geared to be one of the future Batting Superstars of this country
Sometimes your PR do more harm than usual.
I get that Pant has some practice against Curran+Woakes and has scored good runs in England but the thing is he is already neck deep in Brat-Asstri reign and has probably partied more than practiced in recent times.
Time will tell if he'll be Naman Ojha or MSD, but after seeing what happened to KL rahul when he faces quality attack - I have no hope from him.
Kohli prides himself on "Unpredictable" selections but at the end, he's extremely predictable.

I bet England players are already consuming video tapes of Pant and Dhawan and Bumrah for their lunch.

He'll never be ready.
Will score 30-40 fluke runs and take 2-3 fluke wickets and will ultimately lose the game.

Jaddu for all his worth, developed into a good bowler despite his limited talents.

I personally feel people from BCCI, ECB, CA - are secretly members of forums like these.
I personally know that a lot of people from channels and production houses are members of Gossip Forums like IF etc to get Feedback so it's probably the same for cricket too.
