Oh Sachin overstayed by 2-3 years Dhoni should have understood it was time to move on after CT final so 1+yr for him as well. 

 

I think people are forgetting Kapil. He too overstayed. Sunny went at the right time.

Kapil Dev was performing really well in 1992 picked up 25 wks in 5 tests against Aus. He was decent in 93 but his bowling started declining

in 94 and he retired right then.

Dhoni has already overstayed from more than 5 years.13 CT was idle time for him to be retired from all form of the game.

Dhoni had great 2-3 years post 2011 WC but I think his struggles became apparent during late 2014 and were blatant in 2015 WC, should have retired post 2015 WC.

Tendu overstayed by 1 year in his quest for stats.

Dhoni has overstayed by 2-3 years now.

 

But the crucial difference is -

1.Tendu didn't have a clear successor waiting whom he was blocking out.Dhoni is blocking pant.

 

AND -

Most important of all -

Tendulkar didn't cost us a World cup,Dhoni WILL cost us the 2019 wc with his  slow torture batting.

• Sachin could have retired at the end of 2011 max. The pursuit for the 100th 100 and 200th test were unwarranted (Knowing how Sachin "works", I had predicted a long time ago that he would not retire before playing his 200th test)
• Sachin test avg in 2012-2013 period is 28. In 2012, his avg in ODIs was 27 

 

Dhoni, his WK still adds some value but he has already passed the max time allowed. Could have retired after CT2017. Also his presence appears to encourage the selections of trundlers in ODIs  

• Avg in ODIs in 2018 is 28 
• Dhoni since Oct 01, 2017
