SRT did not overstay at all.  He retired at the right time.  Dhoni has over stayed and should have retired last year after CT. SRT was scoring runs and was batting well even when he retired but just was not able to scorer those big innings of 100s.  SRT was not hopeless with the bat like Dhoni when he retired. He also retired from ODIs in 2012 itself, just after one and a half years 2011 WC.

Sachin was never poor till last day he played but was definitely spoiling his legacy with average dropping alarmingly etc..There is no need for this comparison. Dhoni looks done in international level batting sadly, totally lost his mojo in batting. But then you have to compare Dhonis primary skill wicket keeping. Because of Pant, Dhoni needs to go.
