Rightarmfast Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Gurbani seems like a good find for India. He is in the form of his life. He can be a good backup for Bhuvi. Notwithstanding him not being a hit the deck kind of bowler, the kind of form he is in, I believe a player who performs like that should be given his due. He has the attitude of a fast bowler too. But i think a good out and out swing bowler will bowl a little fuller and allow to swing more. Bhuvi if anything is marginally in the good length area. They'll get smashed faster to the boundary then. Without swing, fuller than a good length is too floaty and will get smashed by batsmen these days mercilessly.
Nikhil_cric Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 I don't mind the decision of bringing back ishant either. The pitches in England are so flat, fast and true that even good length balls disappear with disheartening consistency partly because of the skill of the batsmen as well . Imagine if we play on a flat Trent bridge wicket with a swing bowler against England. They might as well target 500. Just not worth it imo.

Good length is right length for swing, for any kind of bowling. There is already whole research about the best length to bowl. Swing depends on conditions. If conditions dont favor, doesnt matter which length you bowl. Edited October 29, 2018 by rkt.india
rkt.india Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Swing bowler doesn't mean pick short trundlers. Bolt can bowl 140s, starc mid 140s and swing the ball. If we have any such bowler, pick him straight away. UrmiSinhaRay 1

What if a radarless wonder slips in under the guise of "phast"? The only equivalent of logic such as yours is the Pak obsession with six hitters like Afridi. It's the exact same one-track mentality taken to hillarious level. In every single team the top ODI bowlers are bowling in the 130s and the faster guys like Starc just taking a supporting role and even then going for runs. Even Pak doesn't play Abbas in ODIs. Bhuvi's length is very closer to shorter ball rather than fuller ball. He is doing exactly what i saying now. His lengths are closer to short of a length. He can be targeted easily given that he bowls at 128 kph. UrmiSinhaRay 1
CG Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 You are confusing ODIs and Tests.Odis in England Their is Hardly Any Swing Sometimes Their is but of seam.
