Can India bring a gun swing bowler upto speed before the world cup?

 In 1983 Binny was good with swing. Kapil himself was a great swing bowler. In 2003 Nehra was very good. In 2011 Zak was very good. Someone who can swing the ball in the air.  How good is Gurbani. These back of the length bowlers Thakur can lose matches for you. My guess Ishant may come back in.

Bhuvi is the best swing bowler we have,and in english conditions irrelevant of pitch he will get assistance.Particularly first 5 overs.

In 1983, the World Cup was played with the red ball and it was swinging even after 20 overs.

 

We don't need swing bowlers for ODIs nowadays.

 

How much swing did we see from Bhuvi in CT 2017 played in England  ?

Thakur is a more natural swing bowler than Ishant.

He is another seamer who cannot hit the deck hard and lacks natural bounce ...  which is needed when the ball is not swinging ... which is almost always in ODIs.

 

Gave away almost 7 runs per over in the Deodhar final due to this.

No. What evidence is there for swing in white ball cricket except in exceptional circumstances? The kookaburra ball just doesn't swing and because of the 2 new ball rule just doesn't reverse either. We need accurate, hit the deck bowlers who can bowl cutters and ideally fast, accurate yorkers at the death as well.

Bhuvaneswar is a good length ball bowler. But i think a good out and out swing bowler will bowl a little fuller and allow to swing more. Bhuvi if anything is marginally in the good length area.

that was a diff era , the read ball use to swing much 

Wo to binny ka beta bhi achi swing kra leta hai, doesnt mean usko le jao

 

Nehra n Zak had good pace to, Nehra was bowling 140-149k in 2003 wc

Zak in 2011 was at top of his game, experinced and willey ......a top bowler who had more then decent pace and huge set of skills

Yes,i meant he should be played in longer formats

Is much better than bhuvi i think currently (in tests)

Im not saying we must play more than one swing/trundler in any of the formats

Once again with only the speed gun worship. If it was up to you, someone like Abbas would never have played. What if a radarless wonder slips in under the guise of "phast"? The only equivalent of logic such as yours is the Pak obsession with six hitters like Afridi.  It's the exact same one-track mentality taken to hillarious level. In every single team the top ODI bowlers are bowling in the 130s and the faster guys like Starc just taking a supporting role and even then going for runs.

Having seen these guys getting whacked all over, I am not a big fan of trundlers (unless someone like Asif since you brought in Pak) and LAS specialist bowlers (unless a Bedi for e.g.)  in general and try to avoid them  .... For me Srinath, Zak, etc., changed our approach to fast bowling and would like to keep it that way while developing a culture of wkt taking fast bowlers and spinners (for me the best way to check runrate for e.g. is by picking up wkts preferably by bowling wkt taking balls) 

 

Many in Ind always think in terms of profit and loss, changing sides to gain benefits, abondaning policies for short term gains, etc., and that has left the country with nowhere to go in various fields .... Have a policy and stick to it unless the situation / long term trends have changed
