Dravid retained him for RR ( when uncapped retentions were unheard of )and since then he has become ipl star.

 

He is not even an IPL star on basis of performance. Without checking stats i am sure he was even in top 5 run scorer in any edition of IPL. In fact he probably was not even in top 10 run scorer in any season, was he ?
