Punjabi XI

Gambhir
Sidhu
Dhawan
Mohinder Amarnath
Kohli
Dharmani
Kapil
Harbhajan
Bedi
Bumrah

:hail::hail::hail:

bonus you get to pick one more

Half those players were from Delhi, Haryana and Gujarat.

What next, include Lankans in Tamil Nadu team and Bangladeshis in Bengal? While we are at it there are several Pak Punjabi cricket legends you can add in your XI.

Why you getting triggered?  The team title reads "Punjabi"  and they're all of punjabi background and Indian.

Just another perspective..similar to 'zonal' teams.  Just highlighting some greats of Indian cricket have punjabi background.

I am not getting triggered. If the title reads Punjabi it should have min 5-6 Pak players. Anyway the topic is not along those lines but if you want go ahead.

Unfair not to include UP in north region and rajasthan in west.

On topic ,north zone in lois, west probably in tests

Based on Duleep Trophy format....UP and Rajasthan come under Central zone there, geographically makes sense too I guess.

yeah you got triggered but ok nonetheless. We are talking about Indian cricket, so obviously it's about Indian punjabis lol.  Punjabi Xi doesn't need to go outside of India to buff its lineup unlike Bengali Xi which you mentioned..even if it adds bangladeshis, it would be a sorry lineup.

wouldn't include Yuvi in the North Zone.. too much of a weakness outside that offstump which was easy to exploit. A few good innings here and there but overall a poor/mediocre Test record. Would rather include a domestic stalwart in Dharmani even playing purely as a batsman.

Strictly speaking of tests then south zone wins hands down in Asia, they have a strong bowling for Asian conditions.

West zone wins outside Asia due to Zak and bumrah .north zone overall for me because of the swag and match winners and obviously my personal bias lol .

East zone have an underrated side ,can surprise sides with their grit and street smartness

Think W zone is comfortabley ahead in all 3 categories. Outside Asia it is a no brainer, S Zone doesn't have the pace bowling. Even in Asia, W has more variety, Bumrah's pace, Zakk's reverse swing. W Zone can also replace Sunny with Pujara for captainship, Puj was pretty good when he led Saurashtra. Their weakness in Asia seems to be 2nd spinner.

Umesh ...264 wkts 29.40

Shani ...   242 wkts 28.20

Bhuvi .......218 wkts 26.50

Reserve RP Singh ....301 ..30.60

As a selector I would be more impressed with Kailash Gattani ( Rajistan)  396 wkts ..19 .91

Shami has to be there.  He is a very low SR test match pacer while bowling 135 k to 145 k / 147 k throughout the day.  Perhaps one of the best pacers in the World ever while bowling in Asian conditions.

What was Gattani's pace like  ?   Wouldn't captains tend to favour a genuinely quick Umesh or a bouncy fast medium RP Singh  ?

Vinoo Mankad average 34.60 ?

Wasim Jaffer 50.50  or Lalchand Rajput 49.50  or Gaekawd with 40 test matches not instead of Mankad ?

Mankad makes the cut as an all-rounder.
