Kohli + MO has done better than the openers. In fact openers getting out early may have helped MO to score at manageable RR (vs having to dig Ind out of the hole and/or get out of the blocks quickly because of tuktuk early on)  

Been saying India’s chances improve when Sharma gets out early .

We have the problem with middle order , but when the openers suck momentum out in every match you are expecting a miracle from batsmen coming after everytime . With these jokers even yuvi/raina/dhoni at their peak would have struggled .

Tuktuk Sharma himself has a relatively poor record in MO so should at least try to make it easier for others esp. when he walks in with Ind having 10 wkts in hand

I seriously don’t buy the argument that this guy is an improved player after he started opening . He’s the same batsmen who had no clue about rotating the strike in his early days , he still has the same issues . He’s a mediocre bat who was for some unknown reason was gifted the opening spot . 

KL was very honest about it during his interview after the second T20 , when asked about hitting boundaries and sixes , he said it was much easier for an opener to do that compared to batsmen down the order who neither gets time to settle or has the luxury of power plays .

it’s criminal to score at anything less than 100sr for an opener these days

Dhoni in spite of being in sublime form (avg 150+) could still score only at 80 SR.

 

Shudder to think at what pace he would score when he is not in such great form.

Dhoni is still a great keeper, per bowlers it he hands out good advice , he can also hold one end when batting is in trouble. Issue is Dhoni needs someone to see us through, he isnt dhoni of past who could work with tail and cross the line.
