Yoda-esque Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Australia playing like World champions.I suspect they will be lifting the cup. Lyon and Behrndoff now add a new edge to the bowling that was their weak spot. We need Pant for Vijay and dare I say Jadeja for Jadhav. The Batting order has to be: Rohit Rahul Kohli Pant Pandya Dhoni Jadeja Shami Yadav Chahl BumRah SrinjayDutta 1

They have an awesome batting lineup and once Starc gets into rhythm , he is the most devastating bowler in the world by a mile. They will steamroll everyone now.

Not sure why but I have feeling Australia will crumble in one of the knockouts.

Gollum Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) @SK_IH Look at the Aussies getting into their elements. There is a reason you must never bet against Germans in FIFA WC and Aussies in cricket WC. They will get even better in KO and it will require India to play at 100% to take them down, we haven't done that for a long while in important KO matches. When the heat is on Smith>Kohli, Starc>Bumrah and just like that they nullify our 2 biggest weapons...in fact apart from spin bowling we don't have an edge over them in any department of the game, opening, middle order, keeper, quicks, fitness, fielding, clutch mentality, ruthlessness, bench strength.... In any case, should we clash against them, their middle order is as volatile as ours, adding our spin duo can make work cut out of any opposition. We must give credit to Kuldeep and Chahal for holding down oppositions during middle overs.

Kuldeep and Chahal are our biggest trump cards should there be a KO clash against Aussies, if they don't fire big time we will get beaten easily. Good thing they don't have Handscomb who deciphered Kulcha earlier this year. I rate their MO as better, especially now the way Carey is batting. Smith has pedigree on the big stage, underestimate him at your own peril. A MO (4-7) of Smith, Maxwell, Carey, Stoinis is good, especially with their stronger tail they can play more freely.
SrinjayDutta Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Yesterday's match was very much winnable by nz. Aus are not unbeatable.

While I agree that we can fancy their MO to be better than ours; I believe we hold the edge in bowling department. Cummins and Starc are best in business but bar them they lack the penetration. Behrendorff gives them opening stability, but a lot depends on condition, considering the way pitches are playing right now. Also Lyon is not as penetrative as he is in Tests. That is where India can cash on their bowlers Edited June 30, 2019 by Bhaiyya

If you give Australia an inch, they take a mile and will make you pay dearly. Yes. When Boult took a hat-trick, I felt they should have deployed him much earlier to prise out a couple more wickets and finish off Australia.
