Vilander
this above stat also gives the quantum of Sachin. if above 40 in both only he remains. If above 30 he and Ricky -- Virat will catchup eventually. Link to comment

Can't forget that series in India where it was impossible to get him out. He has scored runs in India, Aus and Eng the big 3 in all sorts of conditions. 253 in India and 311 in Eng his 100 in the decisive test in perth. Also comes across as a good guy unlike rat who goes mc bc everytime. Congrats on a great career Hashim Amla and good luck on your post retirement life there it is lol 490 avg hehe, some might say he owned Indian players and Indian players grandmoms there. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=2;qualmin2=400;qualval1=matches;qualval2=runs;template=results;type=batting;view=series Only Andy Flower comes a distant second with 270 avg in zim in India 2001 for an overseas bat in a series.( how good was he phuk) Real McCoy and Vijy 2 Link to comment
Moochad
Great test player for SA. During the peak of his career was a key batsmen for #1 test side. SA has to replace a lot of talent in a short time Real McCoy 1 Link to comment

Will take pressure off them The only areas where I have see the SA "hunger" so far is the hunger for taking Kolpaks and leaving the country. World cricket needs a strong SA to make it interesting, and I will be happy if they can unearth players like Steyn, ABDV, Amla, Smith and Kallis. But I believe that the mid-2000s SA team was the best they can do, and we will not see players like that. Rabada may equal Steyn on helpful pitches, but not yet on SC ones. as for batting, their best bet is markram but he is not up to the level of ABDV or even amla. the less said about bavuma and zondo and others, the better. the fact is that kolpak + improperly handled quota system have caused a lot of issues for SA. Sandeep99
Absolute legend will always rank above Rat no matter what stats say. He is a better pressure player than Rat. Link to comment

I too like to dump on the rat, but amla is very much in the rat mould in ODIs - bilateral king who does little of note in WCs. In tests, he was outstanding (probably world numero uno) during his monster peak but was otherwise just a decent batsman on either side of this peak. Link to comment
