Here I am constituting a list in order of merit of the 2 batsmen playing for one team who when rolled into one would comprise the perfect batsmen.I have selected pairs with varying strengths ,contrasting styles or qualities.Remember pairs are only selected of batsmen playing in the same team and not from different eras.

1.Greg Chappell-Ian Chappell

Nothing could come closer to perfection than blending the technical correctness and flair of Greg Chappell with the determination and improvisation of Ian Chappell.Ian would come out on top in a crisis while Greg took batting perfection to it's supreme height.

2.Everton Weekes-Frank Worrell

What more could you wish in moulding the supreme attacking agression or brutal power of Weekes with the poetic elegance or sublime touch of Worell.Worrell posessed grace in regions of divinty like a concert pianist while Weekes took batting domination to its ultimate zenith.of the sublime.Reminiscent of a boxer and a pianist moulded into one.

3.Denis Compton-Len Hutton

The Technical perfectness of Hutton combined with the poetic genius of Compton was like moulding an architect with a magician.Compton took creativity in regions unexplored while Hutton was the ultimate epitome of technical perforation.

4.Mark Waugh-Steve Waugh

Mark Waugh was elegance and technical skill personified while Steve was the epitome of championing a cause when the chips were down.Mark could pierce the most impregnable gaps while Steve could master the worst of wickets.

5.Sachin Tendulkar-Rahul Dravid

The phenomenal talent and strokemaking ability of Tendulkar with the supreme determination and technical correctness of Dravid would constitute a super batsmen.Sachin's mastery in the 'V' and backward punch shot would be a perfect foil for Dravid's mastery of the cover drive and wristwork.

6.Viv Richards-Lawrence Rowe

Viv would devour the best of attacks like a tiger while Rowe displayed the correctness of an Englsih grammar professor.Both had great natural talent with Rowe the more elegant and Viv the more imperious.

7..Zaheer Abbas-Javed Miandad

The artistry and technical correctness of Zaheer Abbas with the uncanny improvisation of Miandad would be the ultimate thorn in the flesh..Zaheer flourished on flat tracks and to good length deliveries while Javed was the ultimate man to negotiate short pitched deliveries or bad wickets.

8.Sunil Gavaskar-Gundappa Vishwanath

The magical artistry and creative genius of Vishwanath would be the perfect foil for the supreme technical skill and concentration of Gavaskar-A poet and a technician moulded into one .Vishy was the more talented and artistic,Gavaskar was the more determined.

9.Geoff Boycott-David Gower

The sheer effortlessness and natural ability of Gower combined with the supreme technical correctness and depth of concentration of Boycott would comprise a perfect batsmen.

10.Rahul Dravid-VVS Laxman

The creative artistry and imagination of VVS would perfectly blend with the technical ability and determination of Dravid.

11.Alistair Cook-Kevin Pietersen

Pietersen's flourishing strokeplay would be the perfect foil for Cook's solidity.

12.=Clive Lloyd-Alvin Kalicharan

Technical perfection and grace of Kallicharan with the brutal power of Clive Lloyd would make the ultimate batsmen.

12=Mohinder Amarnath-Mohammad Azharuddin

There could hardly be a better fusion than the silken strokes or artistry in regions of divinity of Azhar with the concentration,correctness and determination of Amarnath.A soldier and musician rolled into one.

14.Vijay Merchant-Mushtaq Ali

The supreme technical correctness of Merchant with the glorious Wizardry of Mushtaq would make a true champion.

Thought provoking write up.

My take is Clive Llyod and Viv Richards. That was not an option but strictly my opinion. In tandem those two were best ever.
