Coronavirus could leave sufferers with damaged lungs after recovery? wtf!

So initially like many I was not that worried getting infected with this Chinese flu, since reports were saying most healthy people recover within few weeks.

But today someone told me it can take 10-15 years to recover damaged lungs to it's optimum levels!

Is this true? any medical experts on here confirm if this true? :nervous:

This information seems to be based on observations made by doctors in Hong Kong on recent recovered patients.

People who recover after being infected with the novel coronavirus can still be left with substantially weakened lung capacity, with some left gasping for air when walking quickly, doctors in Hong Kong have found.

"Some patients might have around a drop of 20 to 30% in lung function" after full recovery, he said.

No need to panic unnecessarily.  Yes, there are a wide variety of health outcomes for those that get seriously sick after getting infected.

Its really, really early to make any assertive claims on the outcomes if you get infected.  This is why its better to be safe than sorry, and taking more precautions instead of giving in the urge to treat it as media hype.
