Well BJP also ditched them by not including Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in CAA. I could see why BJP did it but certainly the treachery from admk is something not to be forgotten.

That will be taken care of soon. Things have never been as critical in SL as in Afg and this amendment followed from the wrongs of partition (Nehru Liaquat pact, East and West Pak), SL wasn't a party to this. Even Myanmarese Hindus aren't part of this. At least lakhs of Tamils were given citizenship in the 70s, 80s, 90s., 00s...this luxury wasn't provided to the Afg/Pak refugees who you now see in Delhi/Jammu camps. But anyway govt has promised that it will look at extending the same privilege to other country minorities in due course of time.

Funny you talk about AIADMK treachery. Was DMK not part of UPA when the Tamil genocide happened? What did Kalaignar do  when HR violations were taking place after 2009? Not one voice could be heard, DMK-Congress did nothing to protect SL Tamils then...in fact I am sure Sonia was enjoying the massacre. That was the the ultimate betrayal. DMK's leader Jagathrakshakan (owns many hospitals in Chennai) has economic interests tied to the Sinhalese war criminals, is that not betrayal?

Correct on all three points, my biggest concern being highlighted. Our leadership must have wanted to be seen as the facilitator and broker a peace deal which required LTTE to be brought to the table in a desired way. We had sympathy for the Tamil cause and hence LTTE couldn't be wiped out. Neither could we punch the LTTE so hard that they had no bargaining strength against SL govt when forced to join the table. We obviously didn't want to go all out against the Sinhalese majority's democratically elected govt either. This throttling business made us lose more than a thousand of our soldiers with peace not being achieved, a catastrophe in my view.

Right we should never have sent IPKF there. In the end we lost our soldiers and managed to piss off both (pro-India) LTTE and the Sinhalese govt.....and the civilians on all sides. A huge catastrophe and that idiot Rajiv Gandhi was fully responsible for the mess. He got tricked by SL Prez in the Indo-SL accord.

Please that's not going to be taken care of. You guys never cared about it in the first place and there's no electoral dividends here in TN for BJP to do the same.

And I knew you would quote 2009. As far as I'm concerned ever since rajiv massacre everything fell out of favor for them. Those guys dug their own graves by not participating in elections and doing inhumane shhit.  Violence ended in violence. There wasn't much to be done by 2009 as it was all over. And i can flip the same question to you even if BJP was in power they wouldn't have done anything. In my eyes both BJP and congress are one and the same. Both wouldn't have done anything.

Everything started with this mess. Totally avoidable.

I am willing to give time to BJP since it is never wise to open many battle fronts at the same time. But if they don't help SL Tamils in the future I will be very annoyed.

Who is 'you guys' here? If you are pointing at me I'll place it on record that I do care a lot about SL Tamils. As does half my family, my maternal grandfather even met with Kalaignar and some top SL Tamil faces, broke bread in Arivalayam (I think), he donated more than half his life savings for the cause. Though we probably know now where that money went. There were a few photos of him with a couple of LTTE guys, my father's side was shocked when they saw those photos and accused him of being a terrorist sympathizer but he maintained that he only cared about relief for civilians . My mother works with an NGO (run by my periamma from Australia) that is involved in preparing education tools for Tamil children stuck in camps.

Sorry man. Of course I didn't mean it that way. You know that. I respect your knowledge on various things. Hell I even envy it. I was referring to both delhi based parties(cong & bjp) who are non-symapthetic.

Sorry that’s not correct. ADMK and Congress were in alliance during 1991 election. 1989’s DMK rule was cut short and a new election along with central election took place in 1991. ADMK won massively due to Rajiv’s death sympathy wave. It was surprising that no big leaders from admk and congress were next to Rajiv during the blast. Only notable injured was Jayanthi natarajan.

Welcome back! Long time since saw you posting here.
