Prabhas has become so ugly, fat...never had acting chops, had a joker like presence in Kalki, getting overshadowed by 80 yo Big B.

 

His peak aura in Baahubali is unmatched in Indian cinema (major credit goes to Rajamouli), but all downhill after that. 

 

For his role in Adipurush, his career should have ended.

They tried to get comedy out of him, which failed abjectly.

 

TBF, He had  great aura. great screen presence. And that of a perfect action star for a telugu masala movie. Look at this sequence.

 

 

 

and this romantic song. He WAS handsome too.

 

 

 

 

It is so hard to believe that this is the same man that cannot dance, cannot emote and cannot jump.

None of these body building actors have acting skills. very amateurish generally.   They rely on big budget movies to carry them through.  Close up shots of their muscles can only  take you so far.

These are the actors that pull audience to the theaters on their sheer star power. Also, they have to play the role of sentimental son, romantic lover, acton hero and strong leader. All in one movie. 

 

Lets be fair and give them their share of credit.

Appearance shouldn't matter if you are good enough actor. These masala movies don't really require great acting skills.

On contrary I will say that our emotions are swayed into praise if the person plays a suffering character. It is triggered by our innate tendency of sympathy towards suffering. 

 

Most actors in masala movies have a wider range of acting skill than the ones acting in ultra low budget niche movies.

I am yet to see such a great acting in masala movies.  Pretty much every masala movie has same set of sequences which can be done by anyone.  Because it is not character driven. Most of the focus will be on mass scenes. This is the case since 50s.

I agree, the stories are banal. Even in those stale sequences there are good actors like Chiranjeevi, Rajini kanth, Mammotty, NTRJr and bad ones like Mahesh babu, Vijay. It's unfair to say that every one sucks.

Rajini did actually do good movies before becoming a superstar. But these nepo kids, except for a few, dole out crap movies.  I think the director plays a major role in giving you a good actor. Balachander played a major role in shaping up careers of Rajini, Kamal.  Surya took nearly 7 years before Bala got the best out of him in Pitha mahan. He gave  When he was new, he had zero acting skills. Vijay is still bad despite acting for 30 years.  Ajith, at least, did some good movies early on. Nowadays they focus mostly on building muscle.

Ranveer once said that Simmba (masala movie from Rohit Shetty's Singham universe) was his most challenging role.

Both Vijay and Ajith did similar anti hero roles in the 90s. But Vaali stood apart.   Massive fan of Simran ;)

I like to watch these random movies with low budget.  For a low budget it is a ecent thriller.  Honey trapping girls is the back drop.
