Real McCoy Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 (edited) KKR register their first win with ease SRH won the toss and elected to bat foregoing the earlier matches when toss winning captains elected to field first. Earlier on the SRH innings, KKR fast bowler Pat Cummins got the wind behind his back this game and bowled much better than the last game and was rewarded with the wicket of SRH opener Jonny Bairstow who was bowled for a low score. His opening partner Warner and Pandey got the scoreboard moving with quick running and a few hits over the fence. Warner was dismissed immediately after the first timeout when he tried to flick the ball towards the legside for a ball that didnt spin resulting in a straightforward return catch to KKR spinner Chakravarthy. Pandey was able to score quicky and reach a well made half century but Saha on the other end was struggling a bit. Pandey got out to a full toss as he was trying to flick it to the leg side as he was surprised by the quick full toss from KKR allrounder Russell but it was below the waist on umpire’s review and was declared out. Russell and Mavi bowled excellent lines and lengths in the death overs and managed to restrict SRH to a sub par total. In the runchase, KKR lost Narine cheaply in the 2nd over to SRH seamer Ahmed. Then came Rana who counterattacked the SRH bowlers to score a rapid 26. SRH seamer Natarajan dismissed the freescoring Rana with a ball that went away after pitching that caught the edge on its way to Saha behind the stumps. Karthik didn’t last long as SRH spinner Rashid Khan got him in front of the stumps. SRH had a glimmer of hope as they were hoping for a few more wickets and give KKR a bit of a scare. But that seemed to be a mirage as SRH opener Gill and middle order batsman Morgan put together an unbeaten partnership without giving the SRH bowlers any chance. Shubman Gill played a composed half century and with the ODI world cup winning captain at the other end, it was all too easy in the end as KKR chased the total with 2 overs to spare. SRH are yet to open their account after 2 games. 142 was never going to be enough and that turned out to be the key factor in this matchup. SRH captain Warner may have missed a trick in not sending Nabi or probably Rashid up the order instead of Saha. KKR have to improve on taking the half chances that came their way in the form of runouts and catches being misjudged or not having the best fielder in the best positions. KKR captain Karthik should make better use of Nagarkotti as he was introduced as late as the 10th over and bowled only 2 overs. Otherwise, Karthik and KKR would be very happy with the result.
