SK_IH
It's getting ridiculous now. Teams chasing are having distinct advantage & winning easily. Amidst all the drama of play off finishes, the non competitive nature of last few matches is going under the radar. And most of that can be attributed to toss. speedheat and asterix
zen
If you bat first, you should try to bat the other team out of the game. If you aim for par totals, you may suffer .... KKR demonstrated that nicely by putting on a huge total (esp. for a must win game) v RR where the big score cracked RR under knockout pressure SK_IH

Teams are unaware of a good score. Batting out an opposition is a good idea but once 1-2 wkts fall, the approach derails. RCB against MI is an example of that
I6MTW
In order to completely bat a team out , one must score 230+, because we've seen even 220 being chased albeit a different ground and pitch. Also we have seen 190-200 being chased in SF and Finals before. So no score is safe until it reaches the 220s and 230s. It's always better to chase in finals unless it's against MI (backing of umpires and council as well). So win the toss and chase pretty much guarantees a win. Just don't concede 210-230 while batting first or your chances will decrease.
Gollum
Don't know much about earlier editions but doesn't KO pressure play a part? Don't young Indian domestic players get fazed? I am ok with DC either batting or bowling first. Sure dew will be there but our batting unit gives me no confidence. I am more confident of us defending 170 than chasing that score. For a team like MI not a headache, they bat deep, have 4-5 batters in top form. So depends on team IMO.
