Considering that a) we are all likely to limited to our neighborhoods due to COVID restrictions/precautions during the holiday season, we can all enjoy a book, b) to celebrate SDP's comeback to ODIs post WC19 with a grand 90, and c) the early birds, all those who have posted 11s till this point will get an audiobook code on audible

Therefore, @OpeningBatsman @BacktoCricaddict @maniac @Majestic @Harsh Thakor will receive a code for Audible US or UK  .... you would need to sign up for an audible account if you so not have one (can do a free trial and cancel) .... I will send all of you a PM soon

If there are more 11s posted after this post, they could be entered in a draw or an evaluation (closes sometime in the 1st week of Dec) :dontknow:

Posting the "Best" 11  for 2020 now which will be different from the "favorites" 11. Considering players post 1960 and aggressive/positive options where applicable:

Tests

B Richards - played some superb cricket including in World Series - 207 off 234 balls  & 101* in the 4th innings in the final

Gavaskar - plays both pace & spin well for an opener

V Richards - avg of 60+ in top order

Lara - big scores, batted in both top and middle order, good v both pace & spin

S Smith - amazing consistency

Sobers (c) - greatest cricketer for all time and probably the 2nd best batsman after Bradman

Gilchrist - the high Avg and SR combination while keeping is mind blogging

Hadlee - probably the biggest match winner in tests. Master of swing and accuracy. And can bat too

Marshall - rated as the best pace bowler of AT. Good for most conditions including swing. Has a bunch of bowling options in his arsenal

Warne - the spin wizard

Ambrose - again a match winner w/ the ball in Hadlee's mold. Warne + Ambrose on 4th-5th day can be a nightmare combination to face

12th man: Imran Khan, a pace bowling AR option

Notes

  • All the batsmen in the top 6 have a good record in the top order in tests
  • Gilly, a dynamic keeper batsman
  • Sobers, the multi-talented great AR. V Richards and S Smith can bowl off-spin & leg spin respectively too
  • Hadlee & Ambrose can win matches on their own
  • Marshall & Warne, rated as best pace bowler and spinner respectively
