Not denying the possibility that they are pissed with protesters but Delhi Police (in fact Police all over India) is understaffed, ill equipped and lack concrete and decisive leadership for situations like these. Shaheen Bagh then Markaz fiasco showed that. They can barely save themselves at best. Laaloo

But MSP guarantee is different thing. Poor farmers don’t sell a lot of their produce. ( Most poor ones sell few quintals each season) While its Rich farmers who are the ones who loose out with MSP gone as they are only real beneficiaries. PS: Hope now you get the government angle. And why most people think government is right. I understand government cannot sustain it but poor farmers (super majority) sell it well below MSP. They have nothin to negotiate. These subsidy are passed on to the consumers also. If the debt to income ratio for poor farmers is 2:1 where is the fairness in the system. After working 60 hrs a week in the fields all they make is 10,000 pm where is the fairness in the system.
Khota
4 hours ago, sandeep said: Sure, keep buying millions of tons of grain to rot, so that farmers can keep buying their luxury cars. Rrrright. There are other ways to assist farmers, MSP disproportionally benefits a small slice of elites who game the system, and they are in alliance with political opposition because money is at stake. Even Punjab state government rakes in 'taxes' from MSP sales to the central government. There are other ways to help genuine farmers. Most of these protesting "farmers" anyway hire biharis to do the actual work. They are modern day Zamindars role-playing as "Kissaaan" so that their gravy train doesn't stop. 10,000 rs per month and luxury cars. There is a disconnect here. Every Indian citizen has the right to file his/her grievance over anti national elements in their locality, regardless of their political affiliation. From my knowledge, it was more than daily inconvenience that triggered the locals. None the less you can't condone the fact that locals took the matter into their own hands instead of informing the authorities. coffee_rules
