nsareen Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 Let's not make things up. His SR in List A cricket is 86 which is middling. Shaw, for example has a SR of 123 in LA cricket after having played twice the number of matches.can’t compare shaw with paddikal, both have different styles.. paddikal can turn gears when wanted, also is superiorly consistent than many top order players going around.. we don’t necessarily need both explosive openers, no harm in having one with both such capability to having both as the same, cos you would never be assured of a good start.. SecondSlip Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Padikkal: He should be in India A immediately! Jaiswal: He needs more time in domestic cricket. His strike rotation is poor! Varma: He needs more time in domestic cricket. So far so good though! express bowling and Vijy 2

Jaiswal seems to be evolving toward a pujara-type technician suited for longer formats. this is not a bad idea, since chepu will not be around for much longer. but, if he wants to become a defensive-type player, he really needs to tighten his game outside off stump express bowling and raki05 2
jusarrived Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Liked Tilak Verma a lot from u19s . Haven't seen him after that, hopefully his game has developed . From what I remember he was a gritty player bailed out the team few times .

I can recall many who looked very promising in U19 and completely vanished (e.g., gaurav dhiman, vijay zol, armaan jaffer). I really hope jaiswal and varma do not fall under this category. He scored lot of runs in VH trophy last year. Youngest to score list A double hundred.

We seem to expect all conquering players even before they are 20 ! . That has not happened even among the all time greats . The fact that he is not a slogger but someone who plays quite decently and has performed in U19 with distinction and also last VH shows that he has it in him to come good in 50 overs & Tests . May not be exceptionally talented but is a focused kid which is lot more needed to maximize potential.
afan Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Devdutt Padikkal , definitely is the next big thing in Indian Cricket. Naming other players along with him does no justice to him. I think, the ageing Middle Order in the tests is where he should eye his slot For Chepu/Jinks ...This guy is a much better alternative in times to come. You already have Gill in the side, Padikkal will not be far behind..A certain Dravid will and should ensure this
