How much Indian IT engineers earn? Industry veteran tweets salaries are too high, sparks debate

Seen this and it isn't that widespread. Was on good terms with a talented IT architect at previous startup workplace who got there at 75% hike and a couple of years later left for middle east with an insane dollar offer from another startup.

The junior guys at current office are also jumping ship consistently with 50%+ hikes which aren't uncommon in the first few years and us middle management are struggling to hold fort since upper management won't give good raise at annual appraisal.

These figures are definitely better than other sectors, what is being referred to in OP are likely hot skills & great talent and those are exceptions.

ESOPs point is true in my observation. CTC is what rules in India, not many think of the long term wealth creation that happened with Infy & TCS and everyone from office help to VP made a lot of money.

there is a big gap in juniors/freshers pay vs seniors .. probably the most important reason for juniors hopping jobs

my first jump is from 4L to 10L after spending 2.5 yrs in sasken :aha:

probability of making jackpot kind of money through ESOP from a startup in india is too slim ..

You need to negotiate, anyways what service companies bill for their resource is 10x as to what is getting paid so whats wrong

10x amount includes cost of other resources also.

True in the percentage sense.

I'm observing high attrition in the middle of the pandemic in a very fast growth huge external investment IPO ready company as well which is offering staggered options so that people stick around in the crucial IPO phase. That doesn't seem to matter though as much as the next paycheck for most young folks.
