These bowlers have been instructed to howl wide yorkers only ... and this is messing things up.

 

Some straight yorkers ... like Bumrah and Nattu ... must be tried too.

Because, EB, bowling is about thwarting a batsman's expectations. If a batsman knows in advance the kind of ball I will bowl (consistent pace above 140), then I've lost the battle even before bowling a single ball.

I am not talking about slower balls.

 

Quicker balls have to be quick and only then do the slower balls create maximum impact.

Variation is not all about slower ones,we tend to misunderstand it

Slowers,cutters are part of it

Varying lengths and line at pace also do it for you,a good slower one then comes into the picture

Bowling slowers all the time is also predictable approach

Yes, the more variations a bowler has in his repertoire to gain one-upmanship over the batsman, the better the bowler is in my book. That's exactly what I was saying.

And Shami bowls a few straight yorkers and could not be hit.

 

Our young quicks should not focus on bowling too many wide yorkers and bowl some straight yorkers too.

remember this Nzl fellow who used to play for MI McClenaghan. Looked like crap when he bowled but took many wickets because of his lack of accuracy.

I heard his name here for the first time but was underwhelmed initially. He came back well after the phainta Buttler gave him. He looks older than his stated age.
