He ran in well in his second over. Of what I saw, he is trying to bowl fast but not able to generate pace as of now. It's not like he is not trying to bowl fast. He is still trying to bounce out the batsmen like last year but pace is just not there from the hand yet.

But this certainly requires some investigation, I have never seen a 155k bowler reduce to 135k in a span of 6 months.

What I see, he is not landing on his left leg at full pace and his action completion is slower.

Thus the momentum which he carries isnt transferring enough.

He will be lost ,no point to discuss who should be blamed i believe at the end it is the individual who needs to decide what he wants,he is the one who makes the final decision

Watch Brett Lee on India tour to Aus in 2003-04. Lee had just clocked 160 kph in the world cup earlier that year but a long injury break after that and he was struggling to bowl 140+ on his comeback in Border Gavaskar trophy later that year.

That theory/way does not work beyond a certain pace, can work with say a 140 kmph bowler coming after injury bowls 130-135 kmph there it works that more they bowl they can get upto 140 kmph back again. Hopefully zak is telling such theories to media only not mayank he should be tell the real thing to him.

 

Beyond 145+ kmph it does not work that way, it like bowler is pushing the boundaries of their physical limits, its either they have it or not.

 

Mayank's pace is like he is coming off a surgery, not just rehab. At the pace he used to bowl you need to or try to get back to same speeds as soon as possible else its really hard to be there.

 

Take example of Naseem and shaheen they were 140+kmph in t20s but now they are unable to touch those speeds as they took alot of time to get back there.

Nortje after injury was nt touching 150 kmph for a v.long in cpl he was hardly getting to 144 kmph, only now in Ipl he touched 150 kmph 1-2 times. Same thing for rabada

Don't go far ,Prasidh was trundling not long ago

Worked with Nehra here and looks totally different on these flat pitches

Yes, his pace was coming from fast rotation of his left leg and transferring that momentum to the ball. He will have to bowl more to get that back. More practice needed.

Yes I saw that series. That was a test series. He was bowling low 140s. And Brett Lee wasn’t a 160k bowler in test matches. 
Even in that comeback match he bowled a few close to 145.

 

AND once the LOIs came, he touched 150 in Brisbane and blew that Indian team over.

I think he has been rushed back by LSG.

 

Needed atleast 1 more month. Now he may get injured again.

 Brett Lee was older. His body had matured strength wise, was 27-28 years of age. Mayank is more raw at 22.

His action just doesn’t have that intensity anymore. In the matches last year, that back twist and arm was more explosive.  
Plus he might have also tinkered his alignment at the release. But this is secondary.
