Batting "attack" for T20WC

Discussing the top 7 ... I used the word attack because that is what a team may need to do on mostly batting friendly pitches (likely to be prepared by ICC) in the T20WC (need to move out of the 2016 type of cricket):

Openers (2 from below)

  • Samson has a good case if he has a good IPL ... can keep and be an excellent fielder in the outfield too
  • Kishan ... a left hander for that left-right combination ... like Samson, can keep too and is a good fielder as well
  • KL ... again can keep too and be a good fielder in the outfield
  • X - if someone like Shaw shows improvement (fielding too) and consistency

Anchor(if required and to feel good about experience on paper)

  • One from Kohli, Rohit or Dhawan (KL can be included here as well)

Upper Middle Order

  • SKY ... 360 degrees batting ... can open too
  • Pant ... 360 degrees batting

Lower Middle Order

  • SDP (Hardik) ... power hitting
  • Someone who can bat and bowl spin too -> Sundar, Tewatia, Jadeja, Krunal, Axar, Samad (wild card), ...

Presence of both Rohit & Kohli in the lineup looking more & more untenable.

Don't judge them on the basis of IPL. They take it for granted and thus play selfishly.  They will come good in international T20s.

Rohit and kohli both will play. There is nothing one can do about that.

Rohit

Kohli

SKY

Pant

KL

Pandya

Jadeja

Sundar doesn't have hitting ability and that is why Shardul was preferred ahead of Sundar in batting order in T20 series vs England. Sundar is basically Parthiv Patel with bat. Play him for his bowling but then not in top 7.

Jadeja is one of those players who with his fielding can produce a moment of brilliance anytime which can turn the game on its head. The current version is good in hitting also and since our focus is next two WT20, he must play although sure it's important to have a look on his hitting skills this IPL too.
