Is this OP right? The whole reason NZ even made it to final was because WTC holds 2 test series to be of same weight as a 5 test series. Stuart Broad had a moan about it. So India's series against NZ later this year will have same number of points as this forthcoming ENG series.

What's changed from the above?

Yes they have changed the method where points will be per match and  not per series . So teams will be ranked basis % of available points won.

Win = 12 points, tie = 6 points, draw = 4 points, loss = 0 points

For example if india played 10 matches, won 6, drew 1, lost  3, India % = (12*6+4*1)/12*10 = 76/120 = 63.3%

And if NZ played 8 matches, won 5, lost 3, their % = 5*12/8*12 = 60/96 = 62.5%.

So the % is regardless of oppositions and number of series but based on total number of matches played. It will penalize teams which play stronger teams more over weak teams. As you can see from the chart, teams like Pakistan has a huge advantage when they play stronger opposite at home and weaker away

Is this a joke or what !!

1.  Any team which plays more tests has more chances of getting more points, as there are no negative points for losses.

2. This would mean teams may want a 5 match series with Bangladesh or the WI, and 2 test series vs Strong teams.

3. Teams playing 5 test or 4 test series against strong teams are disadvantaged.

Are the people making these rules not thinking properly ??

Lol its stupid anyway why reinvent the wheel they already have rankings that consider rank of opposition and feeds back into to rating points. They can just have top two sides play a 3 test series and decide WTC campion.
