QuarantineTormentino
Guys let’s talk geopolitics. Can people knowledgeable about this subject educate us on who are our current major military/economic allies in Asia, especially in SEA? What’s the outlook on our foreign relations overall in this region? Has our MEA been doing a good job so far? Thanks
Lone Wolf
Vietnam Indonesia have great relationship with India. In East Asia obviously Japan. We have massive trade deficit with South Korea but decent relations. There is some effort by Indian govt. to stay on extra friendly terms with new Myanmar regime as well. Is it wise cosying up to the new Myanmar dictatorship regime tho? If we do that how are we any better than what Pakistan are doing by backing the Taliban? India can't afford Myanmar to fall completely into China's arms who also has extremely close relationship with it. Massive Infrastructure projects & investment are key advantages of China over there. For India Myanmar is gateway to South East Asia & extremely vital in combating smuggling & Terrorism. Modi Govt. has a policy to not Interfere in internal politics of other countries & better stays silent. He is complete reverse of Rajiv Gandhi in that aspect who took too many risks geopolitically. Name one developed country which truly respects us ? Australia/ France/Germany/Japan/South Korea/United Kingdom All these are major economies and have lot of investments in India and lot of cross cultural exchange. Getting Work and Student Visa to France is easier as compare to other countries. As you said about common interests. EU/NZ/Australia/Japan/Korea/USA share lot of common interests with India geopolitically.

BCCI gets respect and it’s mostly out of fear. That’s where I would like to see India in coming decades. We will be 2nd largest economy there is no stopping it.
