Kohli deserves credit for Rohit the test opener

Sharma averages 46 whereas Rahul averages 35. Big difference in performances. Easy to identify the far better performer. Nothing to credit Kohli.

If at all anyone's deserves praise, then he is Sharma himself to score all these runs at an excellent test average.

Kohli has similar technical glitches. Good players can often suceed despite that but need enough chances. Imagine if england 2014 was kohlis first series and he was dropped forever after that

Aggarwal has to many issue as compare to a kohli of 2014 even shaw

U can have both of them trouble big time with the ball coming back in, with kohli it was just outside off

Everyone has issue with the more u have the more ur in trouble

If Agarwal and Shaw had made full use of their chances instead of being sitting ducks Rohit would not have come back. Shaw/Agarwal failed in NZ. Gill was not played despite having wonderful tour game. It created an opening.

i think they scored 1-1 50 , didnt they ?

Everyone did struggle but these 2 have to many technical issues .....with aggarwal i have a whole post since his inform days

Kohli doesn't have these technical glitches. He lacks backfoot game and at times fiddle with the deliveries outside off but He has decisive front foot stride. Shaw and Mayank struggle with their front foot. These two go no where.

The lack of a decisive backfoot gameplay is 100% deficiency against the swinging ball.

Ganguly kind of forced the TM to make the Rohit open..With Dada's backing, Virat didn't have a chance, so I dont understand why this thread?

ganguly didnt force them, he has no say in TM...he is not captain or coach

He anyways says one thing one day and 2nd thing next day

It was failure or other options n pressure of Rohits LOI form but both kohli n shastri wanted him in test for long just he wasnt scoring enough. This time it paid off

They have tried him even at 3 in past

Yes, But his is BCCI boss and he wrote an article saying Rohit should be made to open when he is struggling in MO, then TM picked up the cue and gave him a chance.

No one listens to him , not long before that he also said dhawan n rohit have done nothing so they shudnt take them overseas

TM wont listen to him specially shastri

It was long plan just they werent confident but with others failing and his ODI form being so good they had to
