sage Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Gambhir cheering on the dynamic duo https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/t20-world-cup-2021/story/hope-rahul-dravid-rohit-sharma-win-india-icc-trophy-new-template-t20-cricket-1874230-2021-11-08 "Looking forward to it (Dravid's tenure as coach). India will have a new captain as well and I hope Rohit Sharma gets it because 5 IPL titles, what more do you want from someone? The most successful captain in the history of the IPL and hopefully he and Rahul Dravid can take Indian cricket forward. Probably can win an ICC tournament as well. It's been a long time now, it's been 14-15 years we haven't won a T20 tournament," Gambhir said. Gambhir also said India should have a rethink of the way they play T20I cricket, saying that Dravid and Rohit should work on creating a template that enables them to play like England. However, the World Cup-winning former opener highlighted that people should be patient before focussing on results if take the England route of playing the shortest format of the game. "Hopefully, Rohit and Rahul can take Indian cricket forward and probably can create a template, the way they want to go about in the T20 format. I hope they go about it same England goes because you have got the ability to do it," Gambhir added. "Sometimes, if you ask a team like New Zealand to do it, they might not be able to do it because they have not got enough firepower but with people like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, they have the ability to be fearless. "The responsibility will not only be on Rahul Dravid and whoever the new cptain is but the experts, the media anad the selectors to let them go out and play that way. it's easy to say standing here that we should play that way but it's important to back them even if they fail or don't perform. "We have got to realise that all of us need to support that template," he added.

Its also difficult for Dravid to perform magic and expect instant results. It may take a season of experiments to find out what works and what may not for 2022 T20 world cup and 2023 ODI world cup

So, we have a chance to experiment in these meaningless bilateral series coming up starting with NZ next week.
Mariyam Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 @sage I would never associate the word 'dynamic' with Rahul Dravid. 'Inert' would be a better fit. Khota 1
mishra Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) I don’t think Dravid is like Bully guy. He is more off not give up guy. Rohit is Bully type. Hope combo works in winning few trophies. However, given the choice, I would want Kumble as coach. He is definitely meticulous and more impactful. Under him, we had a team with talents which was unbeatable, infact gap between us and second best team was increasing everyday. Once he was forced to exit, our team has gone down. PS: Bully and not give is not in literal sense but how they approach a match or series. Edited November 8, 2021 by mishra
cricketfan28 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Less pressure on Kohli can help us in 2023, hope he doesnt play in 2022 t20 wc.
Vancouver Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) When he said 14-15 years haven't won T20 WC, I was like what? No way! 2007-2021 is 14 OMG time flies. Edited November 8, 2021 by Vancouver
