Here’s my XI:

Hayden

Pujara

Kallis

Jayawardene

Clarke (c)

De Villiers (wk)

Stokes
Starc

Saqlain

Rabada

Walsh

I have two openers who are perfect foil to each other, a clutch middle order equally good against pace and spin, and dynamic game Changing batsmen like DeVilliers and Stokes who can play as the situation demands, and also accelerate for declaration batting. The likes of Starc, Saqlain and Rabada can all come in later after Count Dracula and the middle order have sucked the life out of the bowlers and send the opposition on a leather hunt (while DeVilliers/Stokes are batting with the tail). A lot of options in the bowling dept: 3 awesome frontline seamers and a gun offspinner complimented well by my two batting allrounders

The team in the batting order:

Sunil Gavaskar
Virender Sehwag
David Gower
Damien Martyn
Kevin Pietersen
Adam Gilchrist (c)
Andrew Flintoff
Pat Cummins
Shane Bond
Muttiah Muralitharan
Shoaib Akhtar
12th man - Rashid Khan

Given the selection dynamics, glad with the picks:

  • All players are good to watch. Whether it is Gower batting at the crease or Akhtar steaming in to bowl and turning into an eagle at the fall of a wicket
  • No half measures like throwing in a "steady" batsman in the middle order
  • No tired or trundling bowlers
  • 6 of the top 7 are stroke makers so the style of play and energy in the middle is maintained
  • 2 express bowlers + 1 fast bowler + 1 stock bowler who is also fast
  • Murali, who can win a game on his own, as the spinner. Rashid Khan as 12th man who can come in to support Murali with his leg spin. A good fielder as well for the 12th man. Sehwag can support with spin too if required
  • Superb balance in the team
  • Will appoint Gilchrist as the captain as I liked his captaincy whenever he captained for Australia (felt that either he or Warne could have been better captains for Aus) and even in IPL

@Rantzz has a keeper to pick. So, I will continue.

Axar Patel will be my 12th man. Recreating the Ashwin-Axar deadly combo on turners in subcontinent.

Thanks for telling us why you picked these players, coz we had no idea why someone would pick them.

Didn't he pick a main keeper in there? How is 12th man going to keep?

Damn nobody picked Boucher lol

Someone did, but due to that racism allegation I think they reversed the decision.
