Yes inconsistency is the one reason why he has an average career. At that time it was said "captain making him feel insecure" was the reason why KL Rahul didn't manage to cement his place. While that was true to some extent, he didn't show the mental strength to overcome it.  Also technical issues.  Now technical issues sorted out somewhat. Also he is the vice captain. So nothing should stop him from having a root like Run.

Simple - KL has a better record playing Away. 6 of 7 tons(KL) have come from overseas tours. Rohit has 8 tons and 7 of them have come at home. Rohit is a Flat track Bully - period.

more accurate to say that he has historically been a home track bully, not necessarily flat track. some of the 100s he scored were on reasonably challenging pitches.

Then you didn't read my post. I mentioned the same. KL is better overseas but Rohit at home. Unlike many here, I rate both home and away performances equally, i.e, 50% points for each. If overseas performance is your criteria, then you will obviously choose Rahul.

 

Also, home does not equal flat tracks.

His SENA average is 29.6 compared to Rohit's 34.8. He doesn't average 40+ in any of these countries. Better than Rohit for his 6 hundreds but just slightly.

 

At home, he averages 42 compared to Rohit's 79. Obviously, the difference is huge.

 

Now decide who is better.
