Sonix768 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Is there any decent spinner in SRH? All I can see is Sundar and Gopal and I don't see them a s threat to opponents. For all that money they had, SRH could have gotten a decent replacement for Rashid. Going all out pace might backfire heavily. And, I still don't know why they didn't retain Rashid in the first place for 16 cr. Williamson wouldn't have refused to take the second retention place or even third.
sensible-indian Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 (edited) CSK's post 2018 success has been a mystery. Dhoni the captain has got a lot to do with it for sure. But now with everyone hyping up CSK...I won't be surprised if they bomb big lol. CSK's ultimate strength has been its middle order with a strong Indian core. (Take a look at the teams that win IPL consistently and you will see they have a rock solid middle order to control the game). CSK in the past had Raina/Dhoni along with Hussey, Morkel, Bravo. Then Raina/Dhoni with Rayudu. Now with Raina gone...Dhoni over the hill...Rayudu probably old with unknown form...Uthappa too old It will be interesting to see how they perform. Jadeja will contribute a few matches and Rayudu will do the same. Dhoni does not need to do much as he did nothing last time around either. They have Ruturaj up front and then Moeen Ali to accelerate. Pretorious and Bravo are more all round options. Conway may surprise at the top. Ruturaj Conway/Jagadeesan Moeen Dube Rayudu Jadeja Dhoni Bravo/Pretorious D Chahar A Milne I have 10 members here. They can field a competing 11 easily against any team. They will always have 6 bowling options minimum. No doubt they have a well rounded lineup but I am talking about middle order. Players who can control the game. Moeen is someone who will take the game away from you but isn't a controller. Neither is Jaddu (who can again be devastating on his day and give a flourish in the end), Dube/Uthappa - Rayudu - Jadeja - Dhoni might flop due to old age. But then it might not happen but if they flop...everyone will wonder what happened to CSK. The fortunes of a team lies in how good their middle order is. That's why RR, PBKS, RCB and so many others struggle inspite of big names. SRH of 2016 was an aberration due to Warner..... When Kings XI Punjab's middle order bats (Maxwell and Miller) struck rich form in 2014...they looked invincible. It took a crazy knock by Manish Pandey to deny them the title (similar to Bisla in 2012 who denied CSK the title - although CSK needed lots of luck to reach playoffs that year...but in the playoffs they were incredible). Punjab from 2018 and 2019 would have EASILY made playoffs and might have even been title contenders if they had a middle order controller or two which they never had. zen Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Many KKR fans appear to be disappointed with the auction. Found the below on YT:

I disagree that their strength is their middle order.. Their strength is their top order.. First it was Hayden/Vijay, then Smith/Mccullum, then Ruturaj/Faf.. they are among the few teams where both their openers fire.. Their middle order support the good starts they get.. First it was Raina and Badri, now it is Moeen/Rayudu.. Rayudu/Uthappa can still do fine for another couple of years.. Uthappa shouldn't get bogged down as he did with KKR.. He might be able to play freely given that there are so many all rounders to follow him.. The concern is what happens after two years.. They need able replacements after that.. Whether Jaggi / Hari Nishant / Dube can carry that forward remains to be seen.. Hari is a top order batsman.. Jaggi is an opener as well, although he does play in the middle order at times.. Dube is a proven failure with other franchisees.. Whether Dhoni can turn him around remains to be seen.

The truth is that there are many many many teams with good top order but they don't necessarily win. CSK had the power of prime Raina - Dhoni - Hussey (past before he opened) - Rayudu (later) Raina and Dhoni controlled games like crazy. This allowed CSK to give a free reign to other bats who could play their role well. The only other team with a killer middle order was MI. SKY - Ishan - Pandya bros - Pollard MI won countless games that they should have lost due to Pandya, Pandya and Pollard combo. Btw, I don't expect CSK's middle order to fire this year.

They haven't gone for a like for like player this time, so tough to understand their strategy which seems to have changed suddenly. Kane the captain, and the 2 young fast bowlers along with Tripathi seems to be the Core team for me for SRH Vijy 1

Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Ok the teams that i missed X factor- Butler, Samson, hetymer First XI Batting heavy 1 Jaiswal Jaiswal/ DDP 2 Butler butler 3 DDP Samson 4 samson RVD 5 Hetymer Hetymer 6 Riyan parag Riyan parag 7 Neeshan/ NCN NCN 8 Ashwin Ashwin 9 Krishna Krishna 10 boult Saini 11 Chahal Chahal Despite having solid XI, i feel something is missing- X factor in bowling Krishna n Saini can prove to be very expensive I feel they shud play one among jaiswal n ddp not both Really cant say how they ll do, its a good team but nothing exciting TBH
Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 First XI Batting heavy 1 Warner Warner 2 Shaw Shaw 3 Marsh Marsh 4 pant pant 5 sarfraz/ Mandeep/ Yash dhull / Lalit Rovman powell 6 sarfraz/ Mandeep/ Yash dhull / Lalit sarfraz/ Mandeep/ Yash dhull 7 Axar Axar 8 Kuldeep Kuldeep 9 Khaleel/ Nagarkotti/Thakur Thakur/ Nagarkotti 10 Fizz/ Lungi Khaleel/Sakaria 11 Nortje Nortje X factor - Warner, marsh, shaw, pant, nortje Ill always prefer to go bowling heavy so nortje-fizz for me Post pant-shaw their indian contingent can become a problem if they dont come good- Thakur, kuldeep, sarfraz can all become minuses 5-7 , if they wanna play 2 overseas bowler can be an extreme area of concern If kuldeep struggles, they are struggling in spin dept with only Axar left Warner will be a man on a mission It will be interesting to see how nortje operate without rabada Marsh can get injured anytime They shud do well, but they have holes n quite a few
