Can anyone explain why Archer entered the auction this year?

He already clarified he isn't going to play this year so why enter the auction at all this year when all teams would be reluctant to bid too high for him? Why not wait for next year where he could fetch much more because he is available? It's not as if he is going to get that 8 cr this season. Or you think there has been some deal made under the table with the Ambanis which seems more likely.

Franchise were asked to give names of players they are interested to buy. Ambanis were interested in him, he entered the auction. Nothing amiss about it.

On Archer fetching higher prices next year, what if there are no auctions next year at all or loses form and teams show no interest?

unless he is reinjured..doubt his form will suffer much. He will be picked for reputation alone in IPL for one season

Why won't there be.. There won't be any mega auctions from now on but mini auctions for released and new players would be there
