vvvslaxman Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Today felt good about partnership between Iyer and Pant. Very good batting chemistry. SOme famous batting chemistries are Ganguly/Tendulkar, Sehwag/Gambhir, Laxman/Dravid, Dhoni/Yuvraj, Rohit/Kohli. For a long time we have been lacking that. There is no clarity on what role they should play. Today small spark was there. They both counterattacked. It is not like one guy turning over the strike to other batsman and let him handle it. SKY/Pant/V Iyer add Rahul too, it will be a good combo. Sadly only 3 out of 4 can play there. Either SKY or V Iyer as we need KL Rahul. If they can form a strong nucleus Indian middle order will improve vastly. SRT100 and AuxiliA 2

Dhoni/Yuvi was arguably our greatest middle order in white ball cricket, it was brutal when they were on. VVS/The Wall deserves a lot of respect for punishing test bowlers. Hitman/Kohli in their prime were brutal. It was at times a competition who could bludgeon the most 4s and 6s. I loved SRT/Sehwag as it took the need for SRT to attack always, when he had Sehwag being brutal. Vijy and raki05 2
tweaker Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 We may see chemistry between Agarwal and Gill in the test series against Srilanka

You will be surprised to see how average he was vs full strength attacks in odi.
Lone Wolf Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Watching Aus v SL. Lankan team looks well built. No bellies but quite a fit bunch. Kumara is built like a tank. Unusual for an Asian team. Vijy and SRT100 1 1

I never seen SL teams look so strong and well built, its shameful given the resources that the Indian players have, that they are not the best well built team in Asia. Im not saying being well built correlates to success, but it does correlates to discipline and dedication and that carries over to the game. If India dont pick the right team in white ball cricket, SL will beat us. Mind you Hitman is phenomenal against SL and on his own can win games easily. Vijy and Lone Wolf 2

Kohli on the other hand is not a weak bowler basher, what kind of blatant accusation is this? Rohit red ball career is a tragedy? He is probably our best batsman right now tbh. I agree though. He never lived up to his potential in tests. He is doing well since 2019 though. Let's see. He needs to prove himself vs england again away from home and show that he can do well in kiwi conditions the next time we play them. We all know he is a home bully. So is warner however. Rohit should have played vs saffers last time when we lost. He skipped cause he doesn't get along with kohli. Very disappointed in him for skipping tours. Fat * is already fat as it is. Skipping games will make him fatter. Show me 2 examples of when kohli bashed around sena teams at full strength since 2015? I don't think so. ABDfan 1

Lot of these guys will be just as physically strong and fit if not fitter than sena players if Asian ones had access to proper diet nutrition. Standard of living is poor in Asia. That's the only difference. Go look at Indian men's hockey team. Not one single unfit guy. All strong and well built. Vijy 1
Jay Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 You want to sew real brutish strong men with athletic ability? Go to Indian village areas with lack of resources. They do all the farm work with minimal help from advanced tools. They are the real well built strong men who can adapt to any sport if they take it seriously. Unlike Australians or English men who have access to advanced tools, machines etc, these men of villages do it via hard labour work. That builds toughness strength and character. Why do you think umesh is built the way he is? He used to work in coal mines. You think they provided sheltered clothing and other fancy gadgets/equipment to support their workers under ground lol like in Australia,n.z etc ?

Indian teams briefly around 2013-16 was quite a fit bunch. Fielding standards were also high. Now it's complete opposite. Sri lankans were notorious for unfit players & pot bellies & look now. Unfit players like Mathews Chandimal Lakmal booted out. India should beat SL easily but I expect them to give us some fight this time. Last tour in 2017 they did compete in both Tests & ODIs. Managed to draw 3rd Delhi test & 1st test too (bad light helped) SRT100 1

Point is these Cricketers are given so many facilities yet we see so many injuries. They don't look like sportsperson on field. Full respect to our Hockey team. Such a demanding high intensity sport & they give European sides run for their money. Commitment is everything. Vijy and SRT100 1 1

Our cricketers, have access to quality nutrition, food and drink, gym facilities of world class level and also medical/health professionals in various categories, there is no f**king excuse. Hitman has been pregnant for several years, its actually a national shame that our captain is that heavily overweight. I dont know what happens when they dont tour, but I know when they tour down under in Australia, all the cricketers dine at quality Indian restaurants. The problem is that Indian food is high in fat, its not a lean healthy choice. I have no doubt our cricketers exercise and train hard. In fact I guarantee that they do. However, its very evident that their nutrition is the key problem. Eating healthy is not hard for multi million dollar cricketers that have chefs that can prepare quality gourmet meals that quality and fuel their workouts and performances. The fact is that our cricketers generally dont. One reason for most people why eating healthy is hard, is because it takes time and dedication and resources to prepare quality meals. This is not a problem for the Indian cricket team. ABDfan, Vijy and Lone Wolf 3

When you have too many fans who worship you, it's bound to happen. They get lethargic and complacent. You have idiots parading around with rohits initials tattooed on their arms and doing pujas for kohli etc. Ofcourse these pompous chewts will take advantage. Many Indians fans are lazy to workout in general so they actually condone this attitude from our players too. They love to subscribe to this notion that even a pot bellied athlete can excel in sports. It gives them a false sense of satisfaction. Edited February 20, 2022 by Jay

I would argue you will be shocked and stunned by their strength and fitness levels. Hitman scored the highest ODI score while pregnant, but he is fit, he is strong and has stamina, however he definitely is obese. The problem with Indian cricketers is the lack of adherence to a diet and healthy eating.

But he is still inhibiting himself from reaching his potential by not sticking to a proper diet as you said. You are what you eat. What you put in your body is what you get as an output. Imagine if our players actually adhered to proper diets and did serious weight training that's tailored for cricket. They would be 5 times better and won't such injuries. Weight training in strength and conditioning will he'll them increase power and strength. It will help with recovery and injury prevention. Flexibility training will allow them to be more mobile etc. Vijy and SRT100 1 1

vvvslaxman Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Today he combined well with SKY. Both went after the bowling. No lull. Having this guy in the middle helps the other batsman as well. KL Rahul, V Iyer, SKY, R Pant - four 360 degree players. They are good against pace and spin.2 lefties 2 righties. Let ROhit and Kohli open if they want.
