The team abtting first never won in India vs Australia, in the ashes even with the ridiculous gulf between England and Australia they managed to save one and almost save another draw in what would have otherwise been a walkhome for Australia. The team batting last won both time in Sri Lanka.
Norman Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 What a knock by Shafique! In only his second series. He will definitely play lots of lots and tests for poyz this decade and do the Mayank Agarwal role. Not sure if he can succeed in SENA with that high backlift technique.
Austin 3:!6 Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Pakistan producing all good young batsmen like Babar Azam, Imam and now this Shafique guy. What are we doing? Players like Gill, Pant etc should be doing what Abdullah Shafique doing now.
Frustrated Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Earlier, Poyz had successfully chased the target of 378 against SL in 2015 test series in SL. So, this achievement is more like an Icing on the Cake. Congratulations
Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 shafique - class player Pakistan has really good batting talent coming up but problem

Just that our bowling is too good to get us into this type of situation. rollingstoned 1
Lone Wolf Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Man mind blowing inns from Shafique... Our young players need to learn some temperament from this guy. Shaw Gill Ruturaj might have thrown it away after a cute 40-50 runs.
Norman Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Dropped lol. Paxtan trying hard to choke but Sri Lanka are just too bad to grab these opportunities.

Guys like Gill Shaw Ruturaj will fail 10/10 times vs this Jaysuriya.

Has Rutu played a single test? How many times did Shaw get to play 4th innings of a subcontinent test?

Norman Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Raining now Hilarious if it washes out the entire day and this ends in a draw. Jay and sage 2

Ruturaj can't handle iota of swing. Shaw has issues vs both pace & spin & was clueless vs lankan spinners in SL. One need to keep bias aside & see what's in front of them. Frustrated 1
Lone Wolf Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Lol if it washes out but doesn't look like a strong one.. Pak should be safe. Rajitha probably dropped the game.
Lone Wolf Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 As Isaid Y'day SL wasted DDS bowling.... Theekshana is not test class & has grand total of 4 FC games. Off spinner Mendis vs right handers was clueless. Embuldeniya must play the 2nd test. Rain has got heavy according to cricinfo lmao

I swear this place gets so reactive when it comes to foreign players especially the pakistani ones. Maybe due to browsing that pee pee ghetto too much.

Ruturaj is yet to play a single test. Him not able to play swing has got nothing to do with playing such knocks in Sri Lanka where swing is non existent. 2. Shaw is yet to play a test match in the subcontinent since 2018. Him struggling against leg spinners in white ball cricket doesn't automatically prove he'll struggle in this situation in a test match which is pretty unique. There is no bias here. Just plain common sense. Alas, we'll never get to know the answer because we will almost never get to a 350+ chasing situation in subcontinent thanks to our bowling attack.
Frustrated Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Bias aside , I m convinced that among our batsmen, only Mayank and S Iyer are capable of doing what Shafiq did in this test. (Talking about tests in Asia only). Gill is trash everywhere. That Gabba knock was a fluke. He has failed in about 25 innings after that knock. (Including continued failures in Home grounds). LOL. Shaw won't survive even half decent spinner on any surface. Happy that he is not being considered at all by the selectors.

He is yet to score a test century. Iyer and Mayank have good release shot againts spinners bcoz they struggle against fast bowlers. I doubt either has capability to play an innings like this on 5th day pitch. Lone Wolf 1
