Mayank, Shreyas, Pant are all capable of playing such knocks against decent spin. Just that our bowling is too good to get us into this type of situation.

Mayank is a veteran while Shreyas has a lot of FC experience...  They are expected to score runs in these conditions. 

Guys like Gill Shaw Ruturaj will fail 10/10 times vs this Jaysuriya.

On basis of what are we coming to this conclusion? Has Rutu played a single test? How many times did Shaw get to play 4th innings of a subcontinent test?

all are diff players

• Pant sabka baap hai
• Gill is more talented then shafique way more talented but he needs to work on fuller length , short ball he is as good as any 
• Mayank and iyer are extremely destructive against spin but Shafique plays fast bowling better

Rehn de Bhai...  Their temperament is zero...  Gill has struggled for runs on flat day1 surfaces in India.  Ruturaj can't handle iota of swing.  Shaw has issues vs both pace & spin & was clueless vs lankan spinners in SL. 

One need to keep bias aside & see what's in front of them.

As Isaid Y'day SL wasted DDS bowling....  Theekshana is not test class & has grand total of 4 FC games.  Off spinner Mendis vs right handers was clueless. 

Embuldeniya must play the 2nd test.

1. Ruturaj is yet to play a single test. Him not able to play swing has got nothing to do with playing such knocks in Sri Lanka where swing is non existent. 

 

2. Shaw is yet to play a test match in the subcontinent since 2018. Him struggling against leg spinners in white ball cricket doesn't automatically prove he'll struggle in this situation in a test match which is pretty unique. 

 

There is no bias here. Just plain common sense. Alas, we'll never get to know the answer because we will almost never get to a 350+ chasing situation in subcontinent thanks to our bowling attack.

Bias aside , I m convinced that among our batsmen,  only Mayank and S Iyer are capable of doing what Shafiq did in this test.  (Talking about tests in Asia only).    Gill is trash everywhere.  That Gabba knock was a fluke.    He has failed in about 25 innings after that knock. (Including continued failures in Home grounds).  LOL.   Shaw won't survive even half decent spinner on any surface.  Happy that he is not being considered at all by the selectors.

Pant yes but Gill with all his talent have not done much apart from couple of knocks in Australia. He is yet to score a test century.

 

Iyer and Mayank have good release shot againts spinners bcoz they struggle against fast bowlers. I doubt either has capability to play an innings like this on 5th day pitch.
