Did one for directors - Link, so a complementary one for actors and actresses who influence the films that people see ... You can make a list of 5 that includes both actors and actresses or do a seperate list of 5 each ... Also list 3-5 favorite films for each actor/actress.

Below is my list in alphabetical order:

Actors

  • Charlie Chaplin: City Lights, Modern Times, and the Great Dictator. Add to that the Kid, the Gold Rush, etc.
  • Cary Grant: All of the Hitchcock films that he has worked in - Suspicion, Notorious, To Catch a Thief, and North by Northwest
  • Gene Kelly: The Pirate, An American in Paris, and Singin' in the Rain
  • John Wayne: The Quiet Man, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
  • Laurence Olivier: Rebecca, Hamlet, and The Marathon Man

Actresses

  • Audrey Hepburn: Roman Holiday, Sabrina, & Charade to name a few
  • Catherine Deneuve: Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Repulsion, & Mississippi Mermaid
  • Grace Kelly: All of the Hitchcock films that she was a part of - Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, & To Catch a Thief
  • Katharine Hepburn: Many films including Holiday, The African Queen, & Summertime
  • Marlene Dietrich: Morocco, The Garden of Allah, & Witness for the Prosecution

If the list is expanded, there can many more additions to include various popular actors/actresses ... As for Bollywood, I have a long list so most of the actors and actresses from the Golden Age!

Using this thread to talk about other good actors:

Roland Colman - starred in films such as The Prisoner of Zenda (1937), The Lost Horizon (1937), etc.

An accomplished fun to watch actor with a nice screen presence. Will try to watch more of his films.
