Number Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 A very likely playing line up of bowlers will be. Pandya Axar Bhuvi Bumrah Arshdeep Chahal Bhuvi: Bowls over no. 1 and 3 always. Will most probably be useful in Aus (check Aus 2018 ODI series). Then bowls 5th over too if it is swining for him. Can be very very big positive if the ball is swinging. Bumrah : Should bowl 2nd over always, if new ball is doing something he can exploit it. Depending how it goes, he can have a crack again in 4th. Else Arshdeep should bowl 4th and Bumrah's one over can be kept for middle if we need him to break a partnership in between. Axar : Massive boost for our bowling just at the right time. Should bowl 1 over in power play, look for wickets in this over then should try to keep things tight in the middle overs after power play. Pandya : Start bowling after PP. Should be our out and out attack option. Hit the deck hard or bowl slow bouncers with deep square leg and deep midwicket. One thing I notice about Pandya is when we have 6 bowling options, he bowls with so much freedom and ends up having good figures and when we have only 5 options, he is under pressure, goes defensive and gives away runs. Chahal : He is useless but we know he will keep playing. Massive disadvantage that we are going with him in the XI. If he picks up a wicket or half we will thank god. Then over no. 17-20 shall be bowled by Bumrah and Arshdeep. If both of them get their yorkers right and manage to give only 32-36 in these 4 overs, 99% chance we win the match. All this applies if we bowl first or we are defending a par score. Might need to bowl Bumrah more upfront if we are defending a subpar total. sandeep, Vk1 and tweaker 1 2
cricketfan28 Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Don't think arshdeep will be playing. Sarma is valuing experience otherwise would have seen Bishnoi. express bowling 1
tweaker Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 The bowling lineup should be Bumrah Arshdeep Hardik Axar Harshal Ashwin Bumrah and Arshdeep should bowl first four and the last four overs. Hardik ,Axar,Ashwin,Harshal should bowl in the middle.Who are bowling well should finish their quota. On current form Bhubaneshwar and Chahal should not be selected in the playing 11. Adorable Fan 1

Bhuvi over Harshal anyday. I agree with you on Ashwin but this management is not going to give up on Chahal.

Harshal will play because of his batting. Arshdeep may have to sit out. Or Ashwin over Chahal. needed D Chahar, Bumrah, Arshdeep and instead bhuvi and Harshal

The only problem I see with this is the XI balance issue - I know Indian team is trying to talk up Axar's batting, but he's not a T20 hitting option - forget hit or miss, he's mostly miss. That's the reason why Harshal has been in the mix in place of Arshdeep, because of the bit of batting he brings to the table. Overall though, I trust Arshdeep a lot more with the ball than Harshal, so that's that. What I have seen is that if Harshal gets benched, Indian "think tank" usually benches that 2nd spinner and brings in Hooda. Vk1 and tweaker 2

Harshal's batting isn't something that can make up for his bowling. He can bowl 2 20+ overs when put up against decent hitters and that can end the game.

Harshal's batting in Australia won't be so much better than Arshdeep's that it can make up for his bowling. I am afraid Harshal will be very badly exposed in Australia. His slower ones won't get stuck in hard Aus tracks and will become dollies to hit at perfect height. If Chahal can be dropped then Ashwin in his place adds depth to batting. Axar-Ashwin-Bhuvi This is a very good tail.

Ideally the team management should do what they have done with Avesh Khan, niggle one of them and bring standby Shami in the squad. On current form of Bhubaneshwar he doesn't deserve to be in the squad
straighttalk Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Ideally we need to play Axar - bowling great but batting is not no 7 Chahar - power play Ashwin - any day better than chahal and batting Arshdeep or Shami Bumrah Now our tail isn't bad even Shami and Bumrah can slot. tweaker 1
