Ignore the associate sides and minnows who played qualification round.

Among the players who played more matches

SKY  2

Kohli  9

Pandya 12

Arshdeep 15

KL Rahul 72

Shami 73

Bhuvi 87

Rohit 108

Ashwin 158

Axar 163

DK 213

That kinda illustrates where our team stands. It is a miracle we even got into semis comfortably. Thankfully the top 4 have made it happen

The issue with most Indian fans is that they only switch the bandwagon once the situation is beyond obvious ... Earlier, these guys would have been happy to blame non specialist batsman (even last yr after Ind lost to Pak & NZ).

they don't even switch when it's obvious in places like twitter

Many of the guys now writing against the top 3 were earlier feeling happy when Eng used to fail (imply that bazball does not work for e.g.)

bazball can and does seem to work even in tests, and not just LOIs. cricket is not an overly complex game - just go out there, have simple and efficient tactics, and implement them well

I distinctly remember (including myself) everyone was against Kohli lol At the end of the day he was the one who pulled off possibly the best innings by an Indian in this tournament.  Rohit/Kela in big matches always sucked balls. Nothing new. I am pretty DK was backed by so many. What happened to him?

it was the best innings in this tourney, yes. but we got hurt by conservativeness of top 3 (kohli included) in KO

Kohli is comfortable when he knows what the target is. He is not the best guys in determining what is the best target should be. That is why all his superlative innings came when he was chasing.

yes, it is a major limitation of his. it could prove to be detrimental in 2023, 2024, and 2026 WCs too. of course, he is not the biggest concern - that would be the openers and then the bowling "attack"

Openers set the tone. England proved it. They get full 20 overs. They have 10 wickets in hand. So pressure should be zero.

A complete revamp is required.

Rohit, KL and Kohli all three should be dropped. Kohli was good in this tournament but if he plays next time, the trend suggests that he will be even more past his prime and struggle with that strike rate so no place for him.

Bowling needs a complete revamp. Select two 140k+ pacers and Arshdeep as the third pacer. Start with this thinking, this automatically filters our Bhuvi and Harshal from the selections. Keep Natrajan and Mohsin as backups for Arshdeep if he loses his form.

Pick right spinners- wicket takers and back them.

arshdeep is too slow for int'l cricket, and not useful enough when ball doesn't swing.

all pacers should be 140+
