Heh, it took out the first part of ***essment, thats hilarious! :--D I don't know if I agree with you about Dhoni sidelining experience for younger and fitter players. He has said that they need to play the game at an international level to gain experience and after the CB Series he said that before the WC '11, he'd like to have the core group of young players in that squad to have played at least 100-150 ODIs so they get the experience of handling all situations they might encounter. Now in Australia, it is different because the domestic games are far more competitive than they are in India (and the skill level is far higher too) so some of our younger players will seem a bit like "rushblood" players. I think this sudden change was bound to happen because we were losing games due to fielding errors rather than poor batting or fielding (the series against Australia in Oct. 2007 was a prime example) and perhaps Dhoni wanted to change that. He has kept Yuvraj, Sachin, Sehwag (sort of), and a few of our bowlers who have international experience as well. So I don't see him completely disregarding experience. I like your conspiracy theory about Greg Chappell :--D but it was Sourav who recommended him for the coaching position after John Wright quit.

Even Kohli doesn't average over 45 till date ... Plus we have about 13 away tests coming up .. It will take a grand effort from Rahane to make it through that.

More so for Rahane because he will not be sure of his place as he is not starting off at home and doesn't have a few good performances on his back going overseas. Other 3 have done well at home atleast and hence will get a bigger leeway than Rahane ... Rahane on the other hand hasn't impressed much in the few Intl. chances he has already got and isn't recognised by the team as someone with talent like Rohit. So in case he gets a few big failures, I see the selectors quickly swapping him for some other new guy or heck maybe even for Jadeja.

Avging over 45 is easy for any half decent batsman nowadays.[/quote'] ganguly avged 42+ which is a good avg for a lower middle order batsman,avged 45+ as non captain and that too in a different era,the thing is he avgd well outside SC as well,35 in aus 11 tests,36 in saf 8 tests,65 in england 9 tests,40 in windies 9 tests ..the guy played 63 matches outside home,50 in home and avgs same in both i would be more than happy if our #5 and #6 avg 42+,moreso if they perform well outside SC ,kohli has to score consistently now and rahane should be slotted in quickly..

In a way thats true I guess. Last era was all about graceful players like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kumble. Now the new generation players like Rohit, and Kohli, are all flair and aggression :winky:.
