zen Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Link To me rank turners are not cricket. There is no fixed formula to define rank turners so for me they are pitches that offer spinners an unfair advantage. But not surprised, how "Come to India" thinks. He says it is how the team wants to play so won't be surprised if turner specialists Ashwin & Jadeja are asking for such as well. Ashwin & Jadeja, for me, are hurting the great spin bowling legacy of India.
Chakdephatte Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Same as Stoke's defending his declaration with 3 wickets pending. It's like shooting yourself in foot. Vijy 1
zen Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 BCCI needs to act maturely to decide on relatively sporting pitches ... Leaving it to folks with "Come to India", along with shortcut and short term thinking, mentality, and spinners is allowing the inmates to run the asylum. These guys will only think about their personal records and not the long term benefits for India. AKane 1
bowl_out Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 The point that Rohit is missing is this gen of Indian batsmen are shyte against spin. Gone are those days where we were better than SENA batsmen while playing spin. We are just as bad as them or worse. They don't need doctored pitches to win.. Indian Test team is better than that. They won a Test series in Aus and drew one in England not far ago. They should just make good sporting pitches that provide something for everyone - batsmen, spinners and pacers
Number Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) Shows what is wrong with this pampered generation of bcci and why it achieved grand total of zlich in terms of big trophies. When you want everything served on a platter no wonder you poop in pants when put under slightest of pressure. Edited March 3, 2023 by Number

These turner specialists are so used to the pitch and the right ball doing the work for them that even a ball change makes them unstable enough to lose focus and competitiveness. Number and AKane 2

He is probably saying this because he scored a century in the first match. But yes, if this is because TM is asking for it then it is quite unnecessary. They are doing this in some white ball games too where curators are getting fired after the match because they are not happy with the surface.

They are doing this in some white ball games too where curators are getting fired after the match because they are not happy with the surface. The curator of that T20 game was fired because he originally chose only the black soil pitches with low bounce (and with a relatively slow nature). A red spoil pitch offers good bounce and therefore can be relatively a better batting surface if prepared well. It should have been prepared properly in advance too. However, because the red spoil pitch was not prepared properly (maybe not enough time), the top layer crumbled quickly, turning it into a turner than a relatively good batting pitch, which is what it was expected to be for T20s (esp. after a difficult pitch in the previous game). Only at A'bad, we got a T20esque pitch (the one which the players had originally hoped for). But it should be BCCI that should take the call on pitches. Depending on the venue where red soil pitches (with a light grass cover to help the top layer survive longer) are available, they can be given a preference and prepared well in advance. deepdynamo Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 I have no problem if one pitch is like that each series and a 2.5 day test match. But I believe the curator have no idea of rank tuners. On getting the directions from TM, they do harakiri and under prepare it. SL does the spinning track preparation best. 4th inning is almost impossible to defend there but if you are good the first inning is always good to score. Vijy 1
