Life is cheap in India, always has been.

That is the bitter truth folks. If this happened in the west, heads will roll and a probing inquiry will take place to find the reasons and ensure something like this never happens. There was a tube fire in London in the 80s and people died. Now London has the safest underground train system. I don't think our situation is gonna change that much. We get all emotional at the moment and forget as time passes. Rinse and hoping it won't repeat

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate

Usa = 13 per lac, Bangladesh, Pakistan= 14, India= 16.6, world average = 18, china = 18.8...

Too many accident deaths happening throughout the world, an area where entire world has a lot of progress to make. Although European countries fare a lot better

Sad that a colossal tragedy is being used for political gains. When efforts are to be focused on recovery , rehabilitation of those injured, opposition is putting pressure to gain political mileage.

Among all  credible ministers in the current cabinet, Ashwini Vaishnaw is one foremost with no controversies or obnoxious statements attributed to him. He was always promoting the advancement of railways and people are hellbent on losing him. Promote merit over mediocrity, but we embrace mediocrity and celebrate political gains.

"Bahanaga Assistant Station Master is on the run following the train accident which occurred after Coromandel Express and SMVT-Howrah Super Fast Express derailed and hit a goods train near Bahanaga station last evening.

According to reports, Bahanaga Assistant Station Master SB Mohanty, who was on duty, fled from the spot after the train accident took place."

If this person is clean why is he on the run?

Didn’t know Modi will decide on troop movements as well? Kitna kuch karega, no wonder he sleeps only two hours a day!!

It's a fact he was shooting Man vs Wild continuously during Pulwama attack...  So yeah people have every right to question him.

I don't know what was opposition smoking that they spared him

So, he should have anticipated the attack and not scheduled any event? The point was he is blamed for Pulwama for troop movements on road. He can’t decide at such micro level?

He continued to shoot even after the attack...  Showed his true priorities.

Never said he should be blamed for troop movements.

Looks like the first crash happened dur to someone manually overriding the switch causing the first train to smash into the goods train. Criminal intent or negligence. According to the railway experts on tv

Need official reports. There’s a lot of speculation in SM. There’s a guy on the run. Need to wait and watch, meanwhile politics is a side show

We demand that despite multiple warnings by the CAG, Parliamentary Standing Committees, and experts – why did the Modi government not spend on sprucing up Railway Safety? Who is responsible for the deadliest rail tragedy in independent India?

Maybe wait for the outcome of the investigations to find the guilty party and then go at them? If this was caused due to malicious intent/negligence - no system in the world can do anything about this. In fact, it is scary to think that anyone can cause an accident like this at any place where there is almost 0 access to hospitals, emergency  equipment etc.

If the guilty party is the BJP - they deserved to be pulled up. However, Congress talking about this is funny - esp given how long their govts took to even mobilise. For the 2008 attacks our NSG commandos took more time to be mobilised and brought to Mumbai in their pathetic gear than this entire event was handled.
