Umran Malik who would have shined in pace friendly tracks is picked for tours which suit Bhuvi kind of trundlers in India. Then they lose confidence by TM and get discarded. Imagine if we have Umran instead of Umesh Yadav - at least there would have been an X-factor. Same with Kuldeep Yadav who wins MOTM and then gets discarded for Axar or Ashwin right after - two people who ONLY excel in sub-continent conditions and cannot make a match without pitch suiting them. It's not even about bringing in Mohsin Khan or Bishnoi without any test experience. Kuldeep Yadav and even Umran Malik have enough international experience to excel in conditions like England. As soon as Pant was gone, the results were 100% predictable. We saw Thakur score a valiant 50, Jadeja doing his part as all-rounder but we missed one big scorer in WTC like Travis Head. We ALL knew Rohit, Pujara, Rahane, KS Bharat and Kohli at the stage of their career are incapable of an innings like Travis Head. So, we only had one player - Shubman Gill who could play such an innings but throwing him to the wolves that too as an opener was always bound to be an issue. I am sure Australia did enough research on Gill. Now the same people complaining will forget in a fattu West Indies tour coming up where Rohit Sharma will bring back "Aggressive Bazball" play and dominate a hapless West Indies and claim WTC was a "one-off" failure. He is already claiming they need a best of 3 in WTC - would he say the same had India won? The West Indies tour as usual make everything brushed under the carpet. Every time we lose some tour we have a minnow bashing bilateral series where even opposition teams don't take seriously. Gill cannot open in Tests. he should be in MO or not be there at all Link to comment

Even Rohit has ability to win matches but hasn't performed in any knockouts except v Bangers If a batsman doesn't show up in pressure ever then he is not a match winner. Link to comment

Cricket always will have conditions apply, different conditions, different requirements. Lord 1 Link to comment
