He always had the shots. Lol at Kohli... Biggest strokeless wonder. Guy can't play square cut, backfoot punch, upper cut, sweep, lap, reverse or anything. Pant is clearly more skilled than these guys. But he needs to be more fit to optimize his full potential especially in LOI cricket. He has 10x the range than Kohli. Even Shreyas Iyer has more strokes than Kohli. Gill has that range too but he needs to find that balance... He can be a Joe Root level player if he sorts things out a little bit. Temperament determines. Suresh Raina had many weaknesses. Off spinner bowling into him, Short ball. But his attitude/temperament turned him into a match winner. In pressure situation temperament becomes the most important quality than skill
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Cummins what a ball. Damn. He is the only one who bowls peaches here.
Nikola Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Declare it stokes, seems like clouds are coming for jimmy.
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Barely grazed the stumps. I say bit unlucky. I could see all 3 stumps when the ball hit the pads
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Robinson is going to get an earful from the fielders

Being a left hander aided him somewhat. Temperament is crucial as well. But his skill level was quite great for that era. Playing LOI cricket exclusively aided him. Player like him rn would be called generational talent. Only Jaiswal after all these years I have seen that can replicate his inside out shot that used to be bread & butter for Raina in his prime. He had ridiculously fast hands as well to manufacture gaps.

Just because England is playing bazball they just blnidly brought SKY into all the formats when he has sub optimal List A/ First class records that too at the age of 32. Same way Siraj was first brought into Indian side in a T20 game. He disappeared in the two matches he played. He didn't get chance for a while. We played Shami in T20. Lone Wolf 1

vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Cummins is the only one who bowled actual wicket taking deliveries in this match. Everything else was gifted. England could have piled up huge runs in first dig and turn this into a one innings match. I understand guys like Bairstow don't have good defense. But Root gifted wickets both times.
wazza Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Lol did someone say kohli and rohit are more talented than pant and smith. You are joking right? What drink are you sipping? Maybe pass it over.
sage Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Imagine if Stokes didn't foolishly declare 8 down with Root playing so well. could've easily had 30+ run cushion

Maybe pass it over. From a fan perspective how much you contribute to win matters. Pant may not have the best average. But he produced some of teh greatest impact knocks. Even the 30 or 40 in Bangladesh played a crucial role. India was going nowhere until Pant came in. Gill/Rahul/Pujara/Kohli were absolutely clueless aginst Bangladesh left arm spinners

They thought they could nail a couple of wickets late in the day. But England still has one advantage tomorrow. There is rain prediction around.
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Bringing Moeen back out of wilderness shows lack of England's depth in spin department or they looked for an offie against Australia or they looked for batting depth. Whatever the reason may be, it doesn't look good so far. He already has finger swollen. It will impact both his batting and bowling.
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Josh 7 overs Geren 2 overs They just operate between 3 bowlers.
vvvslaxman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Cummins is getting into rhythm. Remarkable fitness. He is sharing the bulk of the load. Ever since his return from injury he hasn't looked back. Supreme fitness. Also relatively injury free action helped him. India used Bumrah like a workhorse by playing him in mindless bilaterals. India did not protect him for crucial matches. raki05 1
