Duleep trophy squads: 6 squads yet no genuine fast bowler

Recommended Posts

This is possibly due to quota again. Each state will put forward some players. Mavi/Avesh having played for India will come up the pecking order atleast in the minds of selectors.

Shivam Mavi - UP

Upendra Yadav - UP

Saurabh Kumar - UP

Dhruv Jhurel - UP

Rinku singh - UP

Avesh Khan  - MP

Shubman sharma - MP

Saransh Jain - MP

Himanshu Mantri - MP

Yash Thakur - Vidarbha

Akshay Wadkar - Viadarbha

Manav Suthar - Rajasthan

Vivek Singh - Railways

Amandeep Khare - Chattisgharh

I was going through the squads and failed to spot any genuine fast bowler in the squads.

The likes of Umran Harshit Tyagi all miss out.

Result of having failed international cricketers as selectors.

SS Das interim chief selector replaced Chetan Sharma replaced MSK Prasad all of them lit international cricket grounds with their scorching skillsets consistently

Kartik Tyagi has easier way to get into national side. Just that SRH has to back him. That is the only place where selections are made based on "Eye Test". In domestic raw stats will be used as a guideline in addition to quota. So whenever they get  a chance for their state they should produce stand out performances. If you fail to produce they ask "If you can't even get domestic players out how are you going to survive in the internationals" .

How would SRH back him ? They play most of their games on Hyderabad which is slow and low bounce assisting the slow bowlers and spinners.

I really hope for next year, we host IPL in SA or at Australia. I would love to see Umran, Tyagi, Harshit, Sen, Yudhvir, Hangargekar, Prasidh, Kaverappa and Mayank Yadav on those pitches which will really "test" our batters.

He certainly needs backing, but he needs too to understand, the three games that he played he bowled quite tripe

Yes,1-2catches were also dropped off him,

Needs more overs under his belt, wish him he gets few FC games this season for UP

Needs to get used to his resurrected action

SRH management is in complete mess

Really hope he's released and bought by someone like MI,KKR even RR played him more

DC and SRH are ridiculous,so no youngster to them

That's true, he is talented but struggling for control with his new action.

But in UP Ankit Rajpoot and Shivam Mavi are the first choices, last year they played Aaqib Khan over Kartik Tyagi..who was another medium pacer. Even Purnank Tyagi is not getting any games for UP despite being a much better bowler than the others who are playing continuously.

Let us face the reality. Genuine fast bowlers will be picked based on the news they create. Umran Malik played ODI for India without much of List A experience because of the hype he created with his 155 kph deliveries. Quiet a few fight for Sarfraz because he has numbers on his side.

Umran was selected because he was an anamoly. Suddenly an Indian pacer who was able to hit 150k consistently was rare.

Kuldeep Sen was firing all cylinders last year and just blew every opposition in domestics, see his stats in last years Vijay Hazare Trophy, no one was near him..one injury and now he is discarded from all formats. While the trundlers like Mukesh Kumar who were beaten black and blue in IPL are still choosen because he is a trundler and bowls floaty line and length.

If BCCI was really serious, it would have used it's relation with ECB and CA to allow bowlers like Harshit Rana, Kartik Tyagi, Prasidh Krishna etc to play County and Sheiffield Shield games. But they're just busy counting the notes and playing 130kph weak trundlers all across.

That's why I say, we should play one IPL on SA and Auzzie grounds...it will show the true value of malnourished trundlers who can afford to be accurate because they bowl slow and don't put pressure on their body.

By now everyone should realize and accept that we are the land of military medium and spin. Our establishment likes that.

Maybe just as well the genuine quick bowlers are rested for Duleep. In any case records in domestics don't matter. The only thing that matters is IPL and endorsements and connections.
