compound archery a few.

ghoshal maybe - he's 2nd seed i think.

badminton doubles?

Lovlina in boxing

1 more from boxing

2 from wrestling

Saurav Ghosal unless he faces the Malaysian in the semis. Men's doubles in squash. Mixed if we are lucky.

1 or 2 from Archery. Atanu Das seems to be in great form. Vennam in compound archery women also looks great. Maybe 1 team event as well

Men's chess team if they continue this way

4 x 400m men

Triple jump men

Decathlon looking good for gold half way through

Maybe a couple more unexpected ones like Annu Rani in women's javelin

1. Tejaswin if he wins 400 m will win gold as he is leading after 5 events in Decathlon

2. India's Asian games record is 16 golds and 70 overall in 2018. Should easily beat that.

3. China's gold medal tally of ~150 so far is close to all other nations combined. In 1990 Beijing Asian games china had 183 golds , India only 1 (total medals arnd 23). I think we would reach rank 2 in 15 years but still will be significantly behind China.

 4. @Gollum this is the fittest ever hockey team I have seen. Muscular and lean....I bet everyone has a 6 pack, has high strength and stamina. Results are just a consequences of this. Football and volleyball teams should take a cue.

1. rank 2 should be done by 2040. mostly medals are swimming, cycling etc. we should have current China level living standards then, but with more people than China have now and also younger. Korea and Japan will have aged further with population declined. rank 1 maybe near 2060. india should 0.83-0.84 hdi then with china having 0.93-0.94  but 0.93-0.83 gap is smaller than 0.83-0.73 gap. also we'll have 500 million more people, also younger.

2. fitness can be seen in other sports too. squash team looked like units. even cricket guys are fit. as india becomes richer and nutritional levels increase, indians in general will be taller and stronger than before. plus couple that up with modern nutrition and training.

hockey we can be perennial gold medal contenders in a decade if proper steps are taken (HIL revival, expansion of pool - now only punjab/orissa etc). even the women's team can be world beaters in a couple of decades.

and the same can be said of cricket tbh - our women's team is almost at australia level, just keeps losing by close margins.

let's see. india is still poor. with increased growth and adoption of more meat/protein should go up further.

the only short indians i know are from poorer segments of society - which i notice when blue collar stuff needs doing - plumbing, swiggy delivery etc. middle class-upper middle class india is tall.

Started out great in Archery so gar Aditi Goswami and Vennam thru to the individual women's semi in compound archery. Unfortunately, they both meet in the semis. Deadly both of them. Reminded me of the Koreans... That said two koreans will face off in the other semi if they win.

Both Indian ladies including 1500m silver medalist Bains top their heats to the finals.

Mens Kabbadi team showing the women how to put away their opponents. Killing BD right now. Ends 55-18

Sepaktakraw Indian men (4s) playing S.Korea. Can't imagine how they play this game. It's volleyball without the hands. Crazy stuff.

Decathlon athlete Tejaswin Shankar was apparently India's High Jump specialist who moved over to this sport. Currently in pole position with a lead of 150 pts after 6 events. 7th (Discus throw) on now.

Abhishek takes the shootout with a closer bulleye. Damn these sports are tough. The targets are ~50 -75m away and all the archers score 10s for fun.
