what is it trying to achieve and succeeding at and why is it being scrapped then?

I will deal with the last point first . Who has said it's being scrapped ?  One journalist who is an English counties man spreading a rumour hoping it spreads doesn't count as it's being scrapped

Second point about the OP it is a very much a men's and women's tournament. It is two games together and has always been marketed as such .

What was set up was a competition played by  8 franchises where a men's and women's competition played together attracted a new audience to cricket . The audience wanted was not the drunken Blast mob but families where kids and mums got heavily invested in the 8 Franchises with the ultimate objective of those kids taking up cricket .

Over the two hundred editions that can be clearly seen with a very much different spectator going to the hundred and the popularity of the women's hundred has spilled over into the English women's team where attendances for them have gone through the roof this season , again very little of them from the Counties brigade but never having watched a first class county game in any form in their life .

English crickets problem is not the hundred but 18 blood sucking counties who make very little money or none but dictate by a voting system how English cricket should be run . Just yesterday my cousin visited me from Durham complaining  about the huge amount of tax payers money that has gone into Durham's Chester le Street because of a crazy idea of let's build another ground for tests .

My bet is that the franchise's will be sold by the ECB sooner rather than later .

@Nikhil_cric several Pakistani players plying in the 100...  Don't you think this also helps their players to hone their skills better in foreign conditions?

Saw Usama Mir bowling as well...  Great exposure overall for them.

It depends . He's a white ball specialist. So having that clarity helps I suppose.

But I'm not sure English conditions are so vastly different from PAK/Indian conditions nowadays. Especially for white ball cricket.

Also, the next white ball tournaments are in India and the Caribbean .

You need players to play in unique conditions. Eg. UAE and Australia.  Dubai pitches are slow with a relatively large playing area .

Australia is the other end of the spectrum with some really quick and bouncy surfaces and skewed dimensions - long straight boundaries at Adelaide and deeper pockets at others etc.

Selecting Alex Hales in Australia considering his BBL experience was a masterstroke. Won them the Cup.

On the other hand, India played 2 seasons of IPL in the UAE and still got knocked out early in 2021 partly because of selection.

Indian players should be able to play in the top T20 leagues outside of IPL. It would be a good test/experience.

Limit the access to maybe...

Big Bash and The Hundred

they will be duds anyway. haven't learnt anything in IPL, and may not learn much beyond IPL too

Usama Mir is rumored to be in Pak WC squad...  Another quality LOi spinner in the making with some decent hitting ability.

He could be better version of Shadab Khan:spy:

he is better than shadab, who is already a gazillion times better than collar chewer

Man 100 is such a useless format. I even watched couple of gt20 and Lankan premier league compared to this crap. No one is willing to adopt the 100 and ECB thinks it's a genius idea lol. Bro just make another t20 league and call it a day.

they are scrapping it after this season

rumors of scrapping it, but I dunno if it's fully confirmed
