He has already played 29 international games and 91 IPL games. He has enough experience in T20I to perform.

Those matches are here and there. Pant also has poor numbers after higher games. Let's discuss about ODIs here because we have a World Cup now and he is doing well here. So, no reason to not back him. A lefty always helps otherwise Shaheen, Boult, Jansen, Starc all will make life harder for our batsman.

India was 4-39 and 5-83 against quality pace attack. Rahul remained unbeaten, was hitting at SR of 80+.

It was a very easy chase where he didn't need to bat even at 4 rpo. Once the target was comfortably within reach he could make up for his s/r.

In the same series he walked in a much comfortable position 77/2 and batted at a s/r of 64.

Why he is allowed to bat with such poor intent ?

I expected this argument. It was a pressure game where Aus were able to bowl their strike bowlers instead of keeping ineffective spinners for long time.

They were not getting 20 easy overs in any game in that series.

Why is Iyer in this team ? I dont get it.

Iyer was striking the ball really well and looking to get a move on while losing a wicket.  KL gives us the wicket-keeping option. If he were a pure batter, I would want him out of this squad.

The real question is why do we need all of Gill, Rohit, Kohli.  None of them bowl and they are all too similar as batsmen. Atleast Rohit can murder the short ball and can bat aggressively at the start as well.  It's not a decision the TM will make but only 1 of Gill or Kohli should really be in the squad?

Especially when this is a guy who has smashed 50 / 60 ball tons. He was blocking out first over maidens in the T20I WC. Should never be near the T20 I team.
