@mishra

Jewish homeland was chosen based on Old Testament scriptures, not some zany Zionist opinion poll . The kind of brainwashing goes around among Hamas sympathizers

Nobody believes that Zionist wanted Argentina before Israel.

Palestine's appeal
However, Herzl eventually came to believe that the Jewish masses of Eastern Europe would only support a Jewish homeland in Palestine, the biblical Land of Israel. He also recognized that Palestine had historic ties with the Jewish people”

How about this…

Hesus was a Palestinian!!

I have posted a link on other thread. Point is Philistinians existed along with Jewish Israelis.

Point is Palestinian keep making up and selling lies that only they existed and Israel never existed.

Not many say that. The point is that such a history is irrelevant to the current status.

The region has seen many changes over the years.

Then accept that "Change is permanent" and be on right side when history is being written

I am for the two-state solution where both Israelis and Palestinians have their state (if not, I am not sure if Israel can exist).

I am up for two state too. But don’t agree with corollary. In real world and armed struggle, its winner takes all and Tech+money decides the winner

Practically from here on, how will the two-state solution be possible? There are 600k Israelis in WB, 2 million Arabs living in Israel, 3.3 million in WB and 2.2 in Gaza.

Its 3 state. Like India Pakistan Bangaldesh with population emigration to their zones. Current one is like India Pakistan of 1947

Israel is battling oppressed people (without a proper army) in a territory controlled by it and a militant group in Lebanon. It is yet to battle various states including Turkey, Iran, maybe even Pak, etc. It is able to survive due to the US support, which cannot be banked on forever.

It thought that it lived in a world where it can do as it pleases with impunity, leveraging on the hate and anger against Muslim extremism and terrorism. But now the world has changed and it has sent a message to Israel that it cannot act in an irresponsible fashion.

It needs to evaluate its position assuming that there is no one to support it. It needs to work harmoniously in the region. That can only happen with good and proactive leadership.

Seems like rebranding of war with genocide

Those type of arguments appear to be for TV (Arnab type).

Genocide happens in multiple ways where even an intent to commit genocide is punishable. Israeli folks have made such comments:

Norway’s speech at International Court of Justice:

UN Commission, Human Rights Watch, Countries such as South Africa, Norway, Spain (iirc), Ireland, etc., have termed it as genocide, along with IDF as criminal.

Article I
The Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time of peace or in time of war, is a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish.

Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Article III
The following acts shall be punishable:
(a) Genocide;
(b) Conspiracy to commit genocide;
(c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide;
(d) Attempt to commit genocide;
(e) Complicity in genocide.

This disease has spread globally. You can excuse the Gen Zs for not knowing histopry. But old grown people calling the conflict as genocide, siege is infuriating. dishonest people.

It’s about how genuine others are. Going by history, I don’t think Israel trusts anyone. First step should be Arabs and Mislim world loose interest in Palestinian and accept its issue between israel and Palestine

Even ICC (not to be confused with the cricket body) is seeking warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant (along with senior Hamas leaders):

https://www.timesofisrael.com/legal-earthquake-icc-charges-against-netanyahu-would-be-unprecedented-in-courts-history/amp/

“This is a watershed event in the history of international justice,” Reed Brody, a veteran war crimes prosecutor, told Reuters. “The ICC has never, in over 21 years of existence, indicted a Western official. Indeed, no international tribunal since Nuremberg (against representatives of Nazi Germany) has done so.”

When Ariel Sharon pulled Israelis out of Gaza in 2005, there were 87k odd Israelis living in Gaza, It was a cumbersome exercise. But to pull out 600k from WB  is never going to happen. A 1994 style accord is all that Palestinians will get. Complete indepence means giving up security and a 1948 situation will arise soon. It is like giving up key strategic interests of a country to the enemy hands.

That was mistake. Israeli's need to expel and secure zones for themselves till rest of ME and muslim world genuinely looses the interest in Palestine. Right now someone sitting in Iran or Qatar or US or even China can just ignite the fire.
