Why were they so desperate to win group stage matches and home games?

When NZ match was scheduled in Dharmashala, so many posters here were abusing jay shah saying why play into their strengths, we should take advantage of being hosts etc. In the end that was the toughest match for us in the group and gave us the right player to win the semi (shami). Imagine if that match was also held on a rank turner in chennai.. team would have happily played ashwin in place of injured pandya and thrashed NZ and that would paper over all our cracks.

It is good to be tested in group stages in a lengthy format like this. As hosts we could have actually taken advantage by playing tougher games early on to make our players get used to the stress. I would have loved to play this sa team in Mumbai where they bat first. If we lose, so be it, atleast test our batsmens ability to do sustained acceleration. Australia was subjected to extreme stress in the group stage which gave the mental edge in knockouts. The kind of innings maxi played is what teams need to believe themselves.

I'll never understand our posters constantly asking for rank turners in home games saying we shouldn't be ashamed, it is our soft power blah blah. Screw that man, I don't want to watch cricket to look at our soft power, I want our team to win hard battles. Literally all our home series became boring unwatchable mess because of this mindset and the moment players don't get the exact conditions they prefer, they'll look like deer in headlights

soft power means having a small lulli- thats exactly the result of BCCI not having won 8 potential trophies they could have. All this soft power BS means jack if you dont have trophies to show for it. Theres no point having soft pwoer in a sport which only 3/4 countries play at a good level

Rank turners are fine so long as you have 1-2 each season! When you have 3 of them in a 4 match series it shows you are unsure & scared as * of losing, we were just as unbeatable on flat decks a decade back & even till 2016. Not sure what changed in 2017 & we went back on that BS against every strong team, also Brat destroyed our test batting by dropping key players every other series - he has to take that blame!

Want India to prepare fair (and sporting) pitches (I.e. widely found in the region without doctoring. Rank turners were introduced in 1990).

Put cricket (not the idea to win by hook or crook) first (esp. in a country where the sport is #1 and where there is a need to develop a sporting culture).

That's why in our domestics trundlers rule and the fast bowlers leak runs from all sides. Any finger spinner who is just accurate will get purchase from the pitch and will roll over the batters.

BCCI don't have confidence on its domestic structure, due to these lacklusture pitches mediocrity is promoted and these mediocre players struggle to perform in the pitches which has some life, rinse, repeat.

Even in IPL, teams like CSK, KKR, SRH, RCB etc will fill up their teams with these knuckle and cutter bowlers who will cause havoc on these low bounce pitches..same team will go to Australia or SA for WC events and lay egg.

Our fast bowlers are very much capable and exceptional, much more than our spinners. But BCCI's passive attitude towards them is the reason we almost everytime revert to turners.

BCCI actually tried getting our players used to turning pitches by playing a lot of matches on them after the 2019 world cup. They stopped this experiment after our batsmen kept getting worse and started losing their confidence. That's why the prolonged lull in Kohli and other batsmen's form before this world cup. Every team got used to Indian conditions by playing IPL every year. That's why the square turning wickets in Test matches as well. With the advent of IPL we lost our home advantage in limited overs cricket and in test matches too without the turners.

Has hurt other SC sides as well..  Teams like Bangla & Pak SL have also lost home advantage more or less as overseas sides are now used to Indian conditions.

We win coz of sheer talent & depth we have in these conditions.

Yes getting their players rich while also making them used to our conditions. Lose-lose situation for the subcontinental fans.
